Visitors can take a 1 hour and 30-minute guided trail to explore an ebony forest, once home to the dodo, a nursery with thousands of young plants, the ruins of an old limekiln, and a breathtaking view of Mahebourg Bay. During the tour, you may encounter local wildlife such as the Mauritian gecko, the Pink Pigeon, the endangered Telfair skink, and the giant Aldabra tortoise, which was introduced to replace Mauritius’ now-extinct land tortoises. With some luck, you might also spot the Mauritian Kestrel, a species saved from extinction and now freely roaming the island’s forest.
