Our expert driver, Spencer, made the relaxing and fun! - Our driver, Spencer, was great. I really appreciated the constant conversation and education about Hawaii culture and issues. He was also an attentive tourist guide while still being a defensive and alert driver. There was never a time that I felt unsafe during the day.

Road to Hana with Valley Isle Excursions — A Journey We'll Never Forget! - If you’re considering the Road to Hana and wondering whether to book with Valley Isle Excursions, stop wondering and just do it. And if you’re lucky enough to get Derek as your tour guide, prepare for one of the most unforgettable days you’ll have on Maui. We were visiting Maui for our 20th anniversary and thanks to Derek, the day felt like something we’ll look back on for many years to come. From the moment Derek welcomed us aboard, it was clear we were in the hands of a true professional and a natural entertainer. He blended deep local knowledge with the kind of storytelling that pulls you straight into the island’s history, culture, and spirit. It didn’t feel like just a tour. It felt like we were being hosted by a friend who just happened to know every hidden waterfall, every scenic overlook, and every legend tied to the land. The Road to Hana is famous for its twists, turns, and sheer cliffside drops, but Derek navigated it with total confidence and ease. He handled the crazy twists and turns of the road like a pro, so we got to sit back, relax, and enjoy the waterfalls, black sand beaches, and stunning views without stressing about the drive. His driving was smooth, safe, steady and it was truly the kind of skill you don’t appreciate until you see how wild that road can get. Every stop was thoughtfully chosen. We saw lush waterfalls, black sand beaches, the kind of panoramic views that photos just can’t capture. Derek knew the best places to go, the best times to stop, and even the best angles for photos. He was also able to take some great photos of me and my wife with the beautiful scenery all around us. And I’ve gotta mention the Huli Huli Chicken lunch. It was absolutely delicious. Flavorful, tender, and perfectly seasoned. After an adverturous morning of sightseeing, it was exactly the kind of local comfort food you'd hope for on a Hawaiian adventure. Overall, everything was fantastic, the pacing was perfect, the stories were unforgettable, and the entire experience felt elevated because of Derek’s humor, care, and deep love for the island. If you want a stress-free, beautifully curated, truly meaningful Road to Hana adventure, Valley Isle Excursions is the way to go. And Derek is the reason this tour was a genuinely memorable and wonderful experience for us. 10/10 would book again in a heartbeat!

This tour has it all and lets you sit back and relax along the way - Highly recommend this tour! Starts with a hotel pickup and on to a nice light refreshing breakfast. The road to Hana is wild and after a few minutes on the road I was so happy I wasn’t driving. The many one lane bridges, crazy curves and lack of parking at popular stops made me happy I booked this tour. Our driver Justin was incredible and kept us informed along the way. He also ensured we had the necessities when stoping at the public restrooms. Had the chicken for lunch and it was tasty! You stop off at a few places to purchase snacks and things. Places take credit cards but some charge % fee so bring cash if you’d like. This trip really checked off a list of things I had wanted to do and didn’t realize was included. This should be a must do tour.

Excellent Road to Hana Experience! - We did the Road to Hana tour on Nov 14th, 2025 and are so glad we did! Derrick was our tour guide and driver, and he was truly a gem. We were very fortunate that the weather was on our side that day. Derrick told us that Maui had been unseasonably dry this year, but rain had finally come in a couple days before and the day of our tour. This meant that the waterfalls were in full force and the Road to Hana was super lush and gorgeous. And even though we were lucky that the rain stopped at each of our tour stops, it meant rainy conditions on the highway. Doing the guided tour with Valley Isle was the perfect choice for us. From the get-go, Derrick’s number one priority from hotel pickup to drop-off was to malama (take care of) us. We felt super safe with Derrick at the helm, and had ample opportunity to relax and focus on the views instead of navigating the intricacies of single lane bridges and hundreds of curves. Despite this being focused on the Road to Hana, the real tour started right at the beginning from our hotels in Ka’anapali. Derrick, a long-time resident of 20+ years on the island, took the opportunity to point out aspects of Hawaiian history, flora, and fauna along the way. I particularly enjoyed learning about the Alaloa (“The King’s Trail”) along the coast and the history of the monkeypod trees brought to the island during its sugar plantation days. I also appreciated how Derrick would get to know our interests and point out related things along the way to personalize the tour a bit. For anyone curious, I was genuinely surprised by how good the food was- we even got seconds at lunch! Breakfast was simple (some fresh fruit, a croissant, and muffin) but definitely try the POG (passion fruit + orange + guava juice) if you have the chance. For lunch we selected the huli huli chicken, which comes with salad, rice, and mac salad. Mahalo Valley Isle Excursions for such an enjoyable experience!

Would not recommend - We booked the road to HĀNA tour (12/11) we were the last couple picked up on the bus and our bus was full with 12 people. Since we were the final pick up we got the worst seats and had to spend the entire day not sitting by each other on the bus. Had I known that I wouldn’t be sitting next to my spouse I would not have booked the tour. I think the most frustrating part about the entire experience is that there was another group on a different bus that only consisted of 5 people. Location for lunch was poor. There were better stops including places where we stopped for restroom breaks. I would’ve rather had to pay for my lunch at a nicer place than the included lunch at the chosen location. Overall very disappointing excursion and would not recommend.
