- Ke‘anae Point - A quaint Hawaiian village along the RTH, where a tsunami in 1952 left only the church standing. Famous for Sandies banana bread, it also offers public restrooms. The stop here will be 20 minutes, followed by a 40-minute drive to Red Sand Beach.
- Red Sand Beach - Kaihalulu Beach - Known for its striking photography opportunities, this beach features vibrant red sand. The red rocks give the water a Blue Kool-Aid appearance. A moderate 15-minute hike is required to access this beach. The visit will last 45 minutes before a 20-minute drive to Hamoa Beach.
- Wai’anapanapa State Park - Home to the world-famous black sand beach. Reservations are managed, and guidance is provided for photos and fun. It’s the most iconic spot on the entire road, eagerly awaiting your visit.
- Pua’a Ka’a State Park - This waterfall offers stunning photo opportunities and a chance to get wet, featuring a 20-foot waterfall for the adventurous to jump off.

I hold a CDL license and typically guide a group of 25 people….

Road to Hana with Maui Hoppin - Just got off Pride of America cruise. What a great trip! Shout out to Eric of Maui Hoppin tours for the road to Hana! He did a great job for the tour, stopped for turttle viewing, then at water falls but not much water due to being so dry, he jumped anyway. We had banana bread, pineapple snack, then stopped for some great ice cream before stopping at Hāna for lunch. On the way back we stopped at the black beach and lava tube, great photos. We had a great time. Thanks Eric!

Family day to Hana - Eric was a fantastic guide. Very flexible with the route. Supplied water and snacks and also great stories and background.

Wonderful experience! - This tour was fabulous. It was only the 2 of us and another couple. Erik was super informative and we stopped at fascinating places, waterfalls, surfing spots, green turtles! He picked us up conveniently at the port. We learned so much about Hawaii!

Halfway to Hana with Erik & Maui Hoppin! - We had an awesome tour with Erik and Maui Hoppin on our Halfway to Hana tour! When I was planning our trip in the early spring, Erik was quick to respond to questions via phone calls and texting. The weather the morning of our tour was awful - (thanks hurricane Hone) but Erik texted early that morning and offered to take us the next day instead - which turned out to be a beautiful day!
It was easy to reach our pick up point across the street from the port. He showed us so many of the sights and highlights along the way. He was very knowledgeable about the places and history and shared many stories along the way. Erik also took lots of photos of everyone at all of our stops, provided snacks and water, and even stopped and bought fresh loaves of banana bread at Aunty Sandy’s for us to share - yum! We highly recommend Erik and Maui Hoppin for the Halfway to Hana tour!

Book the private tour--You're worth it! - We booked a private tour with Erik. It was just the three of us. We were sailing on Norwegian's Pride of America cruise ship. The cruise ship had a Road to Hana cruise for a similar price per person as what Erik charges. Why would I go on a tour bus with other cruisers when I can book a private tour with a local??
The night before, Erik texted me a meeting location. The walk to the meeting location was only about 10 minutes. It was on paved streets so nothing crazy. We asked he meet us at 9 a.m. so we would have plenty of time to make it back to the ship before it sailed. Erik picked us up in a brand new SUV which was super comfortable. He had snacks and drinks ready for us.
So here is our take on this tour:
If you’re looking to turn your Maui trip into a highlight reel, book a day with Erik from Maui Hopping. Seriously, this guy knows how to turn a good tour into a great one. And he is an awesome photographer to boot!
We hit all the must-see spots—black sand beaches, red sand beaches, and a waterfall. In fact, the red sand beach was closed. Someone had fallen the night before. Erik was able to talk with some locals and still get us there. We had delicious banana bread (still warm), some local bananas and ice cream, and a very delicious meal at some local food trucks.
The scenery alone is worth the trip, but what really makes it unforgettable is Erik. He’s got that rare combo of chill and knowledgeable, making sure everyone’s having a blast while dropping local insights like a pro. By the end of the day, you'll be swapping stories like old friends. Even my teenage son was engaging in the conversation!
In a nutshell, if you’re in Maui and want to experience it in all its glory, do yourself a favor and book this tour.

Road to Hana - I would highly recommend Erik with Maui hoppin he was prompt, pointed out many points of interest, and took us exactly where we were wanting to go.

Road to Hana Shore Excursion - Would recommend taking the Road to Hana tour with Maui Hopping. The roads are curvy and narrow in spots and Erik was a great driver. He provided snacks and lots of information about the trip and the island of Maui. He took some great photos of us and airdropped them to us at the end of the tour. Sp glad we took the full road tour and got to see the black sand beach.
