Perfect day out - We went to see the volcano with this tour company again and wow i was not sure what we was going to see but it blow our expectations. We had another tour guild sorry i forgot his name but he really made that trip. He was giving us so much information about this place. There is a museum at the bottom what is great and a little restaurant. The view was breathtaking and not a lot of walking what was great when you have kids. If you do this tour add on the boat ride in Granada it’s close and you go to an island full of monkeys.

Booked the tour leaving... - Booked the tour leaving from San Juan Del Sur. Pickup is from in front of Josseline's Restaurant on the main strip, also where Breakfast and Dinner are served-both meals were great. Breakfast is from 7am-8am with a pre-selected menu featuring 1 of 2 breakfast options (traditional Nica breakfast or Omelet). Tour begins at 8am with a very friendly guide, newer air-conditioned SUV. The guide was knowledgeable regarding San Juan Del Sur and Nicaragua as well as the natural surroundings. I wanted to love this tour, but the description was a bit misleading and felt a bit rushed. First the tour is not 14 hours as described. The stop at La Laguna de Apoyo is not really 2 hours, nor did I have the option to swim. Its really a viewpoint with a few small restaurants and vendors. As I was solo, perhaps in a group, that would have been an option but wasn't for me. We next drove a short distance to Masaya Volcano where we first stopped at the museum showcasing information, artifacts, and the coolest part, a lava tube with live bats. There are numerous trails that pass active smoking fumaroles, dried lava fields, and beautiful landscapes atop numerous hills. You can actually feel the heat radiating from the ground when walking the trails. Also one will see Iguanas, Parrots, and potentially other wildlife. The drive to the crater is short and features a huge parking lot with a stone wall overlooking the smoking crater. This was definitely the highlight of the trip as you get to peer into an active volcano. With the right conditions (if not too smoky), one can see hot lava. I imagine going at night is the best time as you are guaranteed to see the orange glow of lava. The downside to this being an active volcano is you are limited in the time you can spend since the toxic gasses of the volcano can make it difficult to breathe. At most, one cannot spend more than 15 minutes at the rim. We then drove back to San Juan Del Sur to arrive at around 5pm for dinner at the restaurant from the morning. For dinner you had 5 options which I selected a chicken filet and Sangria. Overall the trip had potential, but definitely wasn't a full 14 hours, closer to 8-9. The meals provided were great, the guide was nice, the communication was good, the sites of course were good and the car was almost brand new. Parts did feel rushed, specifically at Laguna de Apoyo and at the volcano, I had to basically ask to take the trails as otherwise the whole volcano experience would have been less than an hour. However I give points for the guide being nice, the modern transportation and the food being good. With that said, it felt slightly overpriced but I did not feel cheated. To the owner, I would recommend having a more detailed itinerary as well as modifying the time to its actual time spent (8-9 hours).
