Temple of Karnak - Although little remains of Amenhotep’s once grand memorial temple, the two majestic statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III still stand guard at the ancient entrance, 3,400 years later. Visitors can explore the Nile’s shores, opposite Luxor, and admire these monumental sculptures. Besides the impressive twin statues, there are two smaller figures of the Pharaoh’s wife, Tiy, and mother, Mutemwia. Guests can also view the sandstone panel carvings depicting the Nile god Hapy. Despite much of the Colossi being lost to time and weather, the site still conveys its former grandeur.
-
Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - The expansive Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari is a remarkable funerary monument, comparable to the Pyramids. Built into the towering cliffs that shelter the Valley of the Kings, it features three vast terraces connected by ramps, each with a colonnade of stark, mostly unadorned square pillars. Named after one of the few female pharaohs, who aptly called it “Splendor of Splendors,” much of the temple’s construction dates back to earlier rulers, beginning with Mentuhotep II in 2050 BC. Many sphinxes and statues have vanished, giving the structure a monolithic appearance. The cool stone interior offers relief from the intense heat and showcases well-preserved wall reliefs and hieroglyphics, some in vibrant colors.

Valley of the Kings - Situated on the West Bank of the Nile, the Valley of the Kings is one of Egypt’s most renowned archaeological sites. This ancient burial ground served as the sacred resting place for pharaohs and high-ranking nobles of the New Kingdom, especially during the 18th, 19th, and 20th dynasties.
Carved into rugged cliffs and surrounded by desert sands, the valley houses numerous beautifully adorned tombs, including the famous tomb of Tutankhamun. Each tomb is decorated with intricate hieroglyphics, vivid wall paintings, and detailed scenes depicting ancient Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife, providing visitors with a captivating insight into their funerary practices.
Although some tombs may temporarily close for preservation, the Valley of the Kings remains a must-visit for history buffs and curious travelers, offering an unforgettable journey into Egypt’s royal heritage and ancient mysteries.
-
Colossi of Memnon - The Colossi of Memnon (Arabic: el-Colossat or es-Salamat) are two enormous stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, who ruled Egypt during the 18th Dynasty. For 3,400 years (since 1350 BC), they have stood in the Theban Necropolis, west of the River Nile from modern Luxor.
