Fantastic way to immerse oneself in Berber life for a day - My wife and I had the pleasure of spending a day with Iahcen Igdem with Moroccan Moutain Guides. What a great experience!!! To provide some background, my wife and I thought we were going to spend a casual day viewing from afar the Atlas Mountains...perhaps a little drive/walk through of a couple villages and a casual lunch....boy, were we in for a surprise. When we met Iachen, he explained to us that we were going to take a walk in the mountains from village to village...we would not be walking on roads, but more like hiking through paths etc. Admittedly, my wife and I were not prepared for this...we were dressed in shorts and running/walking shoes....and the first ascent/descent took us through a path of loose gravel and somewhat treacherous terrain. I expressed to Iachen my hesitation... To Iahcen's credit, he reassured both of us, that we would be fine and he took it upon himself to help us through any of the rough spots on the hike. Once we gained some confidence, this trip became one of our favorite adventures on our trip to Morocco. We traversed back paths that only the Berbers would use, saw wild fruit trees, waterfalls, small farms that were built on mountainsides and actually walked through villages that were built on the sides of the mountains that were only reachable by foot/mule....No cars up there... Admittedly, the hike was somewhat strenuous, but it was definitely doable especially with the attention Iahcen took with us. Perhaps the highlight was Iahcen taking us to his village to introduce us to his neighbor. She welcomed us into her home where she taught us how traditional Berber bread was made and where Iahcen taught us the proper way to brew traditional berber mint tea. The neighbor even gave us the bread to take to lunch with us....and Wow, what a lunch. Iahcen then took us to his home, where his wife and mother made a tremendous lunch of fresh vegetable salads and a beautiful goat tagine for us. We also go to meet Iahcen's son Mohammed who was a joy. This trip is not to be missed, and Iahcen's company made it that much more enjoyable. Don't miss this opportunity!!!

Great day away from Marrakech - We had a great day w Mohamed. Trip from Marrakech was perfectly organized. 3-hour hike was very interesting with lots of insights from our guide. The lunch and coffee on the terrace of a private house was very good. Would do the tour again any time. Highly recommend Mohamed whose English is great.

A fabulous way to visit the Atlas Mountains - A fabulous day in the high Atlas Mountains. Our tour guide, Hassan was brilliant at telling us about the villages and some of the history. Our hike was tailored to what we wanted and was really enjoyable. Lunch in a guest house in Hassan’s village (where he seemed to know everyone) was exceptionally good and the whole experience had an authentic feel to it that a larger group would really struggle to match.

Beautiful! - I traveled solo & joined another group that had booked this tour. We did a 9-10 km beautiful circular hike with fabulous views of the mountains and countryside plus learned lots of interesting cultural tidbits as we passed through villages. We had a huge delicious late lunch at Lahcen's home/Authentic Toubkal Lodge and then walked a short bit more afterwards to meet up with the van. Lahcen was super accommodating, friendly, fun & informative and our driver Abdul was also very nice & safe. Would definitely recommend this experience.

Amazing Ourika Valley private trip, waterfalls, mountains and berber house - My private day trip to setti fadma was amazing The mountains are stunning, and I would have never been tired of that view! Hassan had phoned ahead and arranged a guide for me, so that had someone there, ready to take me up the mountain to see the waterfalls. Siad was my guide and helped me in places that were difficult to climb and went at my own pace.. siad is super fit, but I needed to stop to catch my breath sometimes The lunch in Ourika Valley is so beautiful the restaurant by the river was really good & I would definitely recommend it. on the drive back, Hassan took me to the berber house to look round. I appreciated him suggesting we did this on the way home, as due to it being holidays and a weekend. setti fadma was beginning to get busy as we left. I would highly recommend this trip. I was left alone to enjoy my time as I pleased, which I prefer. Bur Hassan was ready and available to help or answer any questions if & when needed.

The most amazing day! - We were met by Lahcen who took us on the most magical trip we have ever had. He was extremely knowledgeable and took us on all of the best trails. He tailors each trip to your individual needs and we had the most amazing day with him. The icing on the cake was lunch at the end of trip! Oh my goodness, everything about it was breathtaking. A traditional tea ceremony in a beautiful home, followed by the most amazing meal. You can go on longer treks with Lahcen and also stay over in his beautiful home. If you’re staying in Marrakesh, you MUST visit Lahcen in Imlil. You won’t regret it!

The best experience we had in Morocco, bar none!! - Our time with Hassan and Lahcen was the highlight of our time in Morocco. We are now back in Chicago, but we can't stop talking about our time in the Atlas Mountains, the waterfalls, and the Amazigh/Berber villages. It was one of the best trips we've taken ANYWHERE in the world! Lahcen clearly customizes each experience, and my two adult daughters and I were just blown away by the trip. We started out with a somewhat strenuous hike into the mountains, but Lahcen seemed to know every step of the way, so he would warn us if things were slippery or if we needed to cross at a certain path, and he would always offer us a hand (okay, me, yes, it was usually me ;)) if needed. The paths we went on seemed pristine and untouched, and we encountered few people, but then he would lead us into a village, and he seemed to know everyone. It's clear that Lahcen and his family are respected and appreciated. He loves sharing his knowledge and expertise with visitors and is also appreciative and curious about where we come from. It felt like a true exchange of ideas and cultures. Along the way, we encountered a few kids (Lahcen had let us know in advance that we could bring a few small notebooks, pens etc.. if we wanted). He was kind and respectful to the kids (we asked if we could take a picture with one and she was shy, so he politely told us no, but then another one was happy to take a photo with us and exchange some of her fresh walnuts for some scented pens :)). The views from his terrace, where we had an amazing lunch, were unsurpassed, and the food was incredible. He taught us how to make his favorite tea, and introduced us to some of his family, who have lived there for seven generations. This is an experience like NO OTHER that you will have in Morocco. Oh, and unlike many guides and proprietors who sound good while using translation apps, Lahcen speaks English incredibly fluently, and is also very educated in the history of the area. 5 out of 5 stars!!!

Great experience, service and value for money! - Lahcen and his team were incredibly informative and communicative from the moment we booked our trip. Hassan, our driver, was pleasant, laid back and made our trip easy, comfortable and enjoyable. As this was a private tour, we were offered much flexibility throughout the day and when we wanted to stop off along the way, Hassan graciously accommodated our requests. The drive is about an hour or so to Ourika Valley from Marrakesh. Once we arrived we were introduced to our guide Syed. The hike was simply beautiful and the views were breathtaking. At times, it was slightly challenging but Syed was always there to help. He assured us that if we wanted to take breaks, go back or take a different route then was more than happy to change course. After the tour, Syed set up a table right by the foot of the waterfall where a lovely meal including teas, fruits and salads were offered. The food was authentic and incredibly tasty. Overall, my friends and I agreed that this was the best part of our trip and would highly recommend to anyone looking to visit Ourika Valley and book with Lahcen and his team!
