You don't need a guide, you can visit it yourself with Google Maps yes!!! - It was me and my wife, we always saw that I needed a guide and that Google doesn't work! Lentira, Google works perfectly, guided us to all places within the Medina of Marrakech, and not only is it, but in all medianas of Morocco! Go without fear! Of course the work of a guide is genuine, because it will explain things that you alone would not know, but if you want to go for yourself, search first, mark on Google Maps, put the navigation on foot and be happy!!!!!

Labyrinth full of life - The old town is full of life. We find everything from local crafts to products made in china! Do not hesitate to walk through the small labyrinths of alleys to come across rare pearls. I think it is good to take a guide to appreciate the medina as well as possible.

Sensory Overload! - We visited the souks many times during our stay It helped to have a guide one day and he was able to show us things and places we never would have seen on our own. The souks are sensory overload but definitely worth wandering around. Loved the man who sells sand coffee like the Berbers in the desert make. The worst part of the souks is the zooming motorbikes which you constantly have to avoid while walking. We did not find as many scammers looking to guide you for money as in Fez. Instead found locals to be very helpful.

Wonderful experience - The medina of Marrakech is beautiful. The centre of the city is fascinating and like nothing I’ve ever seen or experienced before. We had a guide help us navigate the souks which was really helpful. The souks are beautiful. The architecture of buildings is exquisite. I’d love to visit again one day.

I RECOMMEND - Travel to Marrakech We were in Marrakech three middle-aged girls for four days. As soon as you reach the Riad Maissoun, I see that the building is supported in the house opposite by several wooden logs (propped up). I imagined what I might find inside. When I entered, I saw that it was not so much: the riad is charming, one of the simplest I have been to, clean and without a single noise. My room was inside, it was spacious, with clean sheets, air conditioning, hot water, wifi, some soap and well stocked toilet paper. My mattress was sunk and it was quite uncomfortable; my friends’ mattresses were better than mine, yet I slept because I arrived very tired. I requested for the Booking page two extra pillows, and there they were when we arrived. There are several important cracks in the wall. I think, from December 2023 to today, they've had time to fix them. I understand that, as a major work, the structure will remain underpinned for a few more years. Breakfast was good. For me, who eats little breakfast, I found it quite blunt: sweet, salty, tea, coffee and juice. They didn't go in to clean the room (not a complaint, just information). Of course, every day they left us new toilet paper at the door. There is no receptionist: the riad is alone. If you need something, you have to ask a girl who cooks and cleans. He does not speak Spanish, but with the translator of the phone we understood without problem. She is in the mornings to give breakfast and comes back around 6pm to serve dinner. The riad is a couple of minutes from Jemaa el-Fna Square, I recommend it. Rooftop restaurants can be found in the souks. I prefer them, because from above you see everything better and you also hear the call to prayer, which is not a recording, but live. I won’t talk to you about how to haggle (there are many people who have already written about that). Just tell you that, if the price is written, it does not haggle. If it isn’t... “wide is Castile”: you’d flip with the difference between the starting price and the one you finally pay. Don't be afraid to miss out, that won't happen. Before you leave home, download the MAPS.ME app: it doesn’t need an Internet connection and, although you think it’s impossible to reach your destination, I guarantee you will do it without problems. Thanks to it you will know the bowels of the medina. The different souks like the souk chairia, souk Attarinesouk, souk Semmarine, etc., are all around the jemaa el-Fna square, do not be overwhelmed do not take more than a couple of hours to realize that everything is even and that you move in a circle. I didn’t need to buy a card for my mobile: in the riad there is Internet, also in cafes and restaurants. Just ask for the password; it's free. They put it on your phone themselves. We travel with Ryanair. We had to print the boarding passes back and forth. For the return I printed them at the Hotel Medina Marrakech and paid 2 € for each. They understand Spanish perfectly and can be paid in both dirhams and euros, so don’t worry. I booked a Civitatis tour from home (it is free). I usually give the guide between 5 and 7 € per person. Of all the monuments in the medina, I only liked Bahia Palace and Ben Youssef School (Madrassa). I also recommend visiting the Artisanal Ensemble: it is a nice and cool building, with a cafeteria. Almost all trades are represented there. You will find the same as in the souks, but with better finish (though somewhat more expensive). You can have a fresh juice, the water is bottled—and chop something. Next to the koutubia there is a mobile stall of chips and they are delicious. I buy the spices in grain and ask to be ground there, the sense of smell will experience an ecstasy. I'd tell you not to give too much confidence to the sellers. If you have to smile, do it when you say goodbye. If they see that you are going to buy, they will offer you a tea (it is free and it would be rude to refuse). But if they offer you tea without having entered a store, refuse it, or they want you to pay for it. Don't speak out either: they hear everything and will try to offer to help you... in exchange for money, of course. Even if you don’t have to check your bag, remember to go through the check-in desk. There you will weigh your bags and ask to show your backpacks; Ryanair is very strict. I don't think I forget anything. Read other travelers reviews, I don’t want to be repetitive, so I don’t talk about things like: beware of taking photos, not drinking tap water, or not tempting luck carrying the backpack open or little watched relaxation in that zero sense (thieves are everywhere). This is aimed at girls, you don’t have to wear your head covered, you can wear suspenders, cleavage and you can teach up to the top of your knees, from 2023 to 2025 Morocco has opened its mind to a major change, even I miss so much tolerance with abroad, I don’t recommend displays of affection between people of the same sex, I don’t think your tolerance will reach so much. If someone is PAS avoid looking at the horses or otherwise that sight bitteren your journey, I learned not to see the wounds of those living beings. Add that I registered with the Traveller Register of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before making the trip. I also took out travel insurance just in case, recommended by a friend who had to use it in Mexico, Heymondo. I chose the 15.75 € per day and person. Covers a lot.

I recommend it - Shopping is fun and tired, you always have to haggle, if the prices are written you do not haggle. Give sellers little confidence if you are a woman or if you seem to. Don't go to the same post or you may give rise to misunderstandings.

A must go - Just take some time to walk around and see all the narrow roads with all the shops around. Feel free to ask for some details, the vendors are nice people.

TO AVOID IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A QUIET WALK/SHOP - The medina of Marrakech is massacred by thousands of mopeds that allow themselves to circulate there permanently when it is forbidden. It’s simply unbearable, they go very fast, it’s dangerous, and the smell of exhaust pipes in narrow and sometimes covered alleys is permanent. You can’t stroll quietly, stop in the shops, you always have to be on the alert. We try to hide from all this mess by climbing on terraces. Unlike other “normal” cities we try to avoid the city center by passing through the big peripheral boulevards!! It’s a shame because the streets could really have charm and there could be a Good Mood but you can never be relaxed.

Catastrophic!! - There were three of us going, me with my girlfriend and a friend. They wanted to take a doughnut on arrival, the two Moroccan front paid 5 dirhams each and arrived in our turn the doughnut had gone to 20 dirhams!! So needless to say, we paid like the ladies before us. So yes it's nice, it's nice, the old and real craftsmen are very well but unfortunately practically non-existent and as for the rest, how to say, all the same "shops" with supposedly craftsmanship that is actually purely made in China with the quality that goes with it and prohibitive prices, even when discussing the price you find the same things in France or on the net for much less. And besides, when we make the point and they are young people strangely they find a very French accent and speak badly to you. As for safety with motorized vehicles that passes at full speed we did not find it very folkloric!! In short look at what you want unless of course it is real artisana and order on the internet. So for us bad experience, it's not MARRAKECH but Arnaquekech...

Disgraceful robbery in broad daylight. - Robbed! Bestohlen! Volé ! Two young guys on scooter snapped my personal stuff in busy street in broad daylight. Feels disgraceful. My mood and opinion about Marrakech is down to zero.
