• Bahia Palace - Visit Bahia Palace, a late 19th-century palace constructed for the grand vizier and named after his favorite wife. The rooms, set within a 2-acre garden, include those that housed his harem, often a political position.
• Ben Youssef Madrasa - The Madrasa is an ancient Islamic school, and Ben Youssef is the largest in the Maghreb region. At this historical site, admire the exquisite Moroccan architecture, from the Zellij tiles to the plaster and stucco carvings and calligraphy, as well as the stunning cedar woodwork on the arches and ceilings.
• Medina of Marrakesh - Venture into the souks surrounding Jemaa el-Fnaa and stop at a Berber apothecary shop to learn about the medicinal uses of many common spices and herbs still used across Morocco to treat common ailments. While it may not be as visually striking as the spice heaps in the market, it is far more informative. Then, visit several workshops, including those of shoemakers and bakers.
