Yummy Marrakech food tour!!! - We booked a private Medina Food Tour and our guide’s name was Jihad. We met Jihad in the square. We started with onion stuffed msemen (crepe) and mint tea. Then went to a street stall to have Harira soup (tomato, chickpeas, lentils) and Maakouda (potato pancake) there were a lot of locals eating this one. We went to a restaurant and had veggie couscous and beef tangia this is our first tangia of the trip a clay urn covered with parchment paper and cooked in ashes/embers for hours. I was so full that I couldn’t eat much of the dinner. We got some sweet treats and then had this herbal tea from a stall. At every stop, Jihad explained the history of all of the foods that we ate, he was very knowledgeable and kind. The market was in full swing with live music when he left us, we chose to walk back to our hotel, but there are lots of taxis at the square to catch a ride home. I would highly recommend this tour, pace yourself as I started off by eating the entire crepe and didn’t have room for food at the end!!! If you are weary about eating street food, we were served only hot cooked food and the tour is cautious of our delicate North American stomachs!! Thank you, Jihad for a wonderful experience. I would recommend this tour!

Medina Food Tour and Tastings - Jihad was a fabulous guide and made a group of 5 ladies feel very comfortable exploring the Medina and the square after dark. We tried some delicious food and learnt a lot about the origins of the food and the culture surrounding it. Jihad was good for a laugh and easy to talk to. He was the perfect host!

Taste of Morocco for a night - The tour Was really a very small group. Just me and the guide JIHAD!! It was quick and informative. So We had moroccan mint tea wirh local naan bread, sardine sandwich, local minestrone soup, kuskus, some desserts. Food in General Was bland for my personal taste. But Thats How they do it here. Interesting How the local moroccan desserts are reallu sweet, bees were ALL over the dessert shop. . Its good to have a tour Like this to sample ALL the little food that I wouldnt normally try on my own. Was expecting little portions, But Was more than full after the tour. Thanks for the wonderful food tour

Not quite the experience I'd hoped for. - This sounded like a great tour to attend - with the chance to taste lots of different foods around the Medina on offer, ending with dinner in Jemaa el Fna. The itinerary that was described when I booked it and the actual event I attended were completely different experiences. We did stop to try some food - doughnuts, mint tea, fruit juice, olives, Morrocan soup and tagine. However, each vendor seemed surprised we had arrived and wasn't ready for us, meaning a longer wait than we'd expected. The best part was the soup in Jemaa el Fna - eating in the square at night was quite special. That was followed by a rather disappointing meal in a cheap restaurant away from the square with some fairly tough meat in a tagine and bread rolls that were so tough you could barely break them. Our guide Hachim also decided to disappear while we were in the restaurant for ages on end. We gave up waiting for him to re-appear so just left.
