- Jardin Majorelle - After enjoying breakfast at the Hotel/Riad, the Private Driver and Guide will accompany the group to begin an amazing visit to the Majorelle Gardens. This garden features over 300 plant species from five continents. The vibrant garden, with its enchanting contrast of Majorelle blue, yellow, and lush greenery, is sure to captivate visitors. This botanical and artist’s landscape garden in Marrakech was created by French Orientalist artist Jacques Majorelle in 1923 and opened to the public in 1947. It includes a Cubist villa designed by French architect Paul Sinoir in the 1930s.
- Koutoubia Mosque - Leaving the new town, the tour proceeds through the walls of the old town, known as the Medina, to the Koutoubia Mosque. Founded in 1147, it is the largest mosque in Marrakech and a city landmark that has inspired other structures like the Giralda of Seville and the Hassan Tower of Rabat. The guide will provide a tour and share extensive information about it.
- Bab Agnaou - The journey continues through the imperial Kasbah with a stop at the famous gate, Bab Agnaou. It is one of the 19 gates that allow entry into the ramparts of Marrakech. This gate, dating from the Almohad Berber period in the 12th century, served as an entrance to the administrative and military complex of the Caliphal Kasbah, the citadel of power, from the south of the city. Flanked by two cannons, it is one of Marrakech’s most impressive gates.
- Bahia Palace - The tour arrives at an important monument included in the visit: Bahia Palace. Driving through the Jewish quarter, the Bahia, or “The Beautiful,” is an 8,000-square-meter extravagance of intricate marquetry, plasterwork, and zouak (painted wood), and is certainly one of Marrakesh’s most stunning sights. Built by Grand Vizier Si Moussa in the 1860s, the salons of both the Petit Riad and Grand Riad feature intricate marquetry and zouak ceilings, but the Cour d’Honneur, a grand courtyard with its 1,500-square-meter floor of Italian Carrara marble, is the highlight. Despite the vast area on display, only a portion of the palace’s eight hectares and 150 rooms is open to the public. Its grand spaces sometimes host important cultural events.
- Souk Semmarine - The tour continues with a historical guided walking tour of the medina of Marrakech, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its souks are filled with captivating scents and vibrant colors. The group will walk through the Semmarine Souks to explore and discover the colorful markets or “Souks.” Following the guide, visitors will discover the markets in Marrakech’s Medina, where Arab and Berber cultures burst with color, noise, and originality. Visitors can smell spices, taste olives, touch leather goods, and purchase local handicrafts.
- Jemaa el-Fnaa - Adjacent to the souks, Jemaa el-Fnaa is the social heart of the medina with its snake charmers, acrobats, musicians, storytellers, and water carriers. The square has a unique atmosphere, making it one of the most famous squares in the world. Visitors can immerse themselves in this cultural richness with its atmosphere, colors, and scents of spices.
-
Ben Youssef Madrasa - The journey concludes with a visit to the Ben Youssef Madrasa, the largest Koranic school and a jewel of Saadian architecture. Now functioning as a historical site, the Ben Youssef Madrasa was the largest Islamic college in Morocco at its peak. It is named after the adjacent Ben Youssef Mosque, founded by the Almoravid Sultan Ali ibn Yusuf (reigned 1106-1142). It is considered one of the best spots in the red city, and the guide will provide extensive information about it.
Then, return to the Hotel/Riad accommodation.
