Essaouira - Essaouira should not be missed! A nice change from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. The driver dropped us off and told us where to meet him in 5 hours. I loved that we had that much time to do exactly what we wanted to do. I looked for seashells for an hour. Had a great lunch and took some truly beautiful photos. The company was punctual and driving was professional. Highly recommended!

Essaouira is a small... - Essaouira is a small picturesque fortified coastal town. The Medina is easily walkable and art lovers will be happy to visit the small art galleries/ boutiques. The drive to/from Marrakech is long but the stop at the Argan oil coop is interesting.

17 Days - Essaouira is one of Morocco’s most relaxed and characterful coastal cities—a place where history, ocean air, and a laid-back rhythm come together effortlessly.
The Beach
Essaouira’s wide, sandy beach stretches for miles and is almost always breezy. It’s ideal for long walks, watching camels and horses trot along the shore, or simply sitting with the sound of the Atlantic rolling in. Unlike busier Moroccan beaches, it never feels crowded or chaotic.
Surfing & Kitesurfing
The constant trade winds make Essaouira a hotspot for kitesurfing and windsurfing, with conditions that are especially good for beginners and intermediates. Surfing is also popular—there are consistent waves just south of town at spots like Sidi Kaouki, while Essaouira itself offers more forgiving beach breaks. Surf schools and rental shops are everywhere, making it easy to jump in even if you’ve never tried before.
The Medina (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
Essaouira’s medina is refreshingly calm compared to places like Marrakech or Fes. The narrow streets are easy to navigate, shopkeepers are generally friendly without being pushy, and the white-and-blue architecture gives the whole area a coastal, almost Mediterranean feel. It’s a perfect place to wander without a plan, stopping for coffee, art galleries, or local crafts.
The Fish Market & Port
The port is raw, lively, and authentic. Blue fishing boats crowd the harbor, fishermen unload their catch, and seagulls hover everywhere. At the fish market, you can choose fresh seafood—sardines, calamari, shrimp, lobster—and have it grilled on the spot. It’s simple, messy, and delicious, and one of the most memorable experiences in the city.
The Old Fort (Skala de la Kasbah)
The old fortifications overlooking the ocean are iconic. Walking along the Skala de la Kasbah, with its historic cannons pointed toward the Atlantic, offers dramatic views of crashing waves and rocky islands offshore. It’s especially beautiful at sunset, when the light hits the walls and the sea turns deep gold and blue.
Overall Feel
Essaouira is unpretentious, artistic, and deeply relaxing. It’s the kind of place where you come for a couple of days and end up staying longer—perfect for travelers who want culture, ocean energy, and calm all in one place.

Poor transport conditions - Planned departure 8h return 6h, real departure 9h return 8h30... The minibus lacked comfort, dilapidated seats. The care is not easy either...
On site, free area, Essaouira is worth the trip but in better conditions. Return by taxi to the Ryad Parcs and Spa hotel, 30 minutes from Marrakech, end of the trip at 21:15... Bof!

I do not recommend at all - I do not recommend at all, no guide 3h of return transport idem in a vehicle without air conditioning and uncomfortable, a visit to the medina of Essaouira was to take place but nothing at all no indication the guide stuck us by the sea without any explanation.

Avoid this tour provider AT ALL COSTS - 1 star. I would not recommend this operator (Marrakech Travel Services) under any circumstances.
The experience was disorganized, poorly managed, and materially inconsistent with what was represented.
Pickup began on time, but we then spent nearly an hour idling at multiple stops within Marrakech with no explanation. The driver provided no proactive communication and, when questioned directly, offered only vague or non-responsive answers.
Significant safety concerns arose throughout the day. The driver repeatedly engaged in speeding, abrupt lane changes, aggressive passing, and weaving through traffic. Several passengers reacted visibly to the erratic driving, which did not meet any reasonable standard of professional transport.
The most serious issues occurred on the return journey. One passenger arrived late to the designated meeting point. After finally boarding, he realized he had left his phone in the taxi he had taken—again inexplicably—rather than coming directly to the meeting point on time. Instead of proceeding safely or on schedule, the driver halted the group’s departure and ultimately began reversing down the highway with the vehicle door open so the passenger could retrieve his phone. This created an unnecessary and unacceptable safety hazard for everyone in the vehicle.
The situation escalated further. When asked, the driver initially stated that drop-off locations would mirror the morning pickup. Moments later, after reviewing the same passenger’s phone and accepting what appeared to be a cash payment, he altered the route and prioritized dropping that couple off first—even though they had been the last to arrive and the requested location was unfamiliar. The driver then became lost and drove the group down a dark, unlit road that ended in a cliff. His clear favoritism toward this couple came at the direct expense of the safety and interests of the rest of the passengers.
We ultimately returned nearly two hours later than advertised, on a Friday evening, which created avoidable logistical and safety issues. Multiple attempts to contact the company during and after the trip went unanswered.
A review of other feedback shows these problems are not isolated. Many customers report similar concerns: unexplained delays, no communication, erratic driving, and materially late returns.
Essaouira is well worth visiting. However, based on this experience, I strongly recommend selecting a different operator. Most hotels and tour companies offer some version of this shuttle. This service failed to meet basic standards of communication, professionalism, fairness, and passenger safety.
