Unforgettable experience in the 4 Atlas Valleys - Unfortunately, on the day of our tour the main road was closed, but that did not stop us from having an incredible and unforgettable experience in the 4 Atlas Valleys. Our guide, Charaf, was simply outstanding: he speaks very clear English, as well as French and local languages, and has deep knowledge about life in the mountains and Berber culture. He was always very open to helping and extremely proactive in finding a plan B so we would not miss the tour, which made all the difference. The views are breathtaking, with landscapes that mix the intense red of the rocks with the white of the snow, creating scenery that looks like a painting at every turn. Another very positive point is that we did not feel harassed for being tourists, which made the whole experience even more pleasant and relaxed. We also had the opportunity to have a traditional meal with Berber people and enjoy a very tasty tajine, cooked in the authentic local way. It was an authentic, human and very special experience. I totally recommend this tour and especially our guide, Charaf.

Excellent value for money (slightly odd lunch experience) 5* - It’s a full-day experience and hotel pick-up was included, which made it even better as many other excursions in Marrakech charge extra for that. The scenery was absolutely stunning and the day felt really well paced without ever feeling rushed. Lunch was at a local guy’s house and cost extra (around a tenner). It was a bit weird and didn’t feel like a traditional Berber experience, and payment had to be in cash. The food itself was fine and tasty overall, although one of us wasn’t well afterwards. Breakfast was very simple – bread, oil and olives – at the argan oil cooperative, which was actually quite nice. Charaf was a real character – very knowledgeable and somehow managing to speak all the languages to all of us. Fair play to him. Top tip: if you’re going in winter, bring warm clothes – it gets cold up in the mountains with snow around.

Good trip but check the pricing on Air bnb. - This pick up was very punctual and our guide for the day was very informative. The Berber breakfast involved tearing off bits of bread from one big bread round sipping it in a sauce and then passing it on. The lunch was a very tasty chicken and vegetable tagline and it was more than enough. A very swift walk through a very busy Berber market would have benefitted from being longer. We somehow came to discuss how much the others had paid for the trip. It ranged between 7 and 9 euros per person and an extra 10 euros for lunch. There were audible gasps when we explained that we’d been charged over £165 for the two of us to come along meaning that we’d paid around 20 times as much as all the other passengers we spoke to for exactly the same trip. This was clearly not what the day was about but it did leave a sour taste in the mouth. It was an enjoyable and worthwhile excursion all the same. Climbing through rhe Atlas Mountains, with some beautiful views was at time reminiscent of being in Wales. We were an hour and a half later than expected for our return time, but this took us to around 18.30hrs, so not a problem for us. Our guide was happily trying to rearrange the timings for other people who had booked saunas and spas etc. I would recommend this trip but be aware that you can get a far better price on Air BnB by booking later it would seem.
