Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil — Azib n Tamsoult

Marrakech - The adventure begins with a transfer from Marrakech to the Atlas Mountains for the 3-day Mount Toubkal trek through the Azzaden valley. After a 1 hour and 30-minute drive, the journey reaches Imlil, a famous starting point for mountaineering adventures.

Imlil - Take a moment to explore and enjoy the stunning surroundings. From here, start the hike up to the Tizi-n-Mezzik mountain pass, which is at an elevation of 2,489 meters. At the pass, enjoy breathtaking views of the Imlil area and the Azzaden valley.

Azzaden Trekking Lodge - Lunch will be a delightful field meal prepared by a skilled cook in a serene juniper forest, allowing you to enjoy delicious food amidst nature’s peace. After lunch, continue trekking down the beautiful Azzaden valley, admiring its stunning landscapes and passing through the summer village of Tamssoult, located at an altitude of 2,250 meters. Overnight accommodation will be in a local guesthouse. The day’s trek will take about 6 hours.

Day 2: Azib n Tamsoult - Agelzim Mountain pass - Toubkal Base camp

Toubkal - Enjoy lunch with a stunning backdrop, allowing you to refuel and recharge while surrounded by the natural beauty of the mountains. After lunch, continue trekking to the Toubkal Refuge, where you’ll spend the night. The refuge, either Niltner Hut or Mouflon, offers basic but comfortable accommodation, usually with shared bunk rooms. This day’s trek lasts approximately 7 hours.

Day 3: Toubkal base camp - Toubkal Summit - Toubkal base camp - Imlil - Marrakech

Toubkal - Prepare for an early start on the third day as you climb to the summit of Mount Toubkal, standing at 4,167 meters. If the weather is favorable, enjoy breathtaking views of the Atlas Range and even catch a glimpse of the vast Sahara Desert. The ascent is challenging but offers a tremendous sense of achievement upon reaching the summit.

Imlil - After spending time at the summit, taking in the awe-inspiring scenery, begin the descent. The path leads back past the Toubkal Refuge, retracing steps towards Imlil. This is a long day of trekking, totaling 8 to 9 hours, with an ascent of 900 meters followed by a descent of nearly 2,500 meters to reach Imlil.

Marrakech - Upon arrival in Imlil, you’ll be transported back to Marrakech, typically arriving around 5:00 pm.
