Traverse the concealed sanctuary nestled between Mount Kedros and Psilorites - the valley of Amari. Feast your eyes on the gorgeous vistas during the blossom of spring. The valley only unveils its true grandeur for a brief portion of the year. Begin your journey at the ceramic pottery hub, Margerithes. Continue to the secluded valley painted with a myriad of flowers, predominantly orchids and irises such as Orphys mammosa (Breasted orphrys), Orchis pauciflora (Sparsley-flowering orchid), Orchis italica, Orphys tenthredinifera, Iris cretensis, Hermodactylus tuberosus, and Romulea bulbocodium. The limestone bedrock of the plateau contributes to the abundant floral display. Particularly impressive is the extremely scarce Tulipa doerfleri, which blooms in so much abundance that the whole field takes on a red hue! After bathing in the allure of the blossoms, enjoy a meal at a local taverna. Post-meal, explore Spili, the soul of Crete before you make your way back.
