- Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (INPA) - Established in 1952 and operational since 1954, the National Institute of Amazonian Research (INPA) has been dedicated to scientific studies of the Amazon’s physical environment and living conditions to enhance human well-being and foster regional socio-economic development. Today, INPA is recognized globally as a leader in Tropical Biology.
To address its mission, the Institute is organized into general coordination of Training, Administration, Strategic Actions, Extension, and four Research Coordination areas focusing on: Environmental Dynamics; Society, Environment, and Health; Technology and Innovation; and Biodiversity.
