Nestled in the heart of the Sakhir desert, this modern facility is synonymous with top-tier global motorsport. Oil first emerged from this well on 16 October 1931, and it began producing significant quantities on 2 June 1932, much to the delight of those involved. The initial flow rate was 400 barrels per hour. The well is located beneath Jebel Dukhan, known as the Mountain of Smoke, which, at 134 meters (450 feet), is the island’s highest point.
- Tree Of Life - The Tree of Life, or Shajarat-al-Hayat in the local language, is a solitary mesquite tree that has stood in Bahrain’s desert for over 400 years. Its age and location make it a true survivor and a remarkable natural wonder for visitors to Bahrain. It stands alone atop a 25-foot-high sandy hill, at the highest point in Bahrain, miles from any other natural tree and without an obvious water source. Standing 32 feet tall, it continues to thrive despite extreme temperatures and a lack of fresh water and nutrients.
