• Mount Longonot National Park - The guide will greet guests early in the morning at their hotel in Nairobi. Following a briefing, guests will embark on a one-hour journey in a private vehicle. There will be an opportunity to stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint for sightseeing and photography. The scenic countryside is captivating, and travelers will pass through several towns bustling with daily life.

Upon arrival at the base of Mt. Longonot, the hiking guide will be ready to assist. After obtaining admission tickets, the hike will commence. The trek, including a walk around the crater, will take approximately 5 hours. There will be several breaks for relaxation and hydration. Wildlife such as gazelles, giraffes, and buffaloes may be spotted along the way. After descending, guests will be guided back to their vehicle for the return trip to Nairobi. Lunch can be enjoyed at the base restaurants or during the journey back.

Mt longonot rises from the floor of the Great Rift Valley like a monolith forming an extinct volcanic mountain. A unique feature is the thick forest that lies within the crater of the mountain. The crater rim also provides great scenic views across the beautiful Rift Valley. Major wildlife attractions at Mount Longonot include buffaloes, elands, lion, leopard, bushbucks, common zebra, giraffe and Grant’s gazelles.

Mt Longonot is just less than 2780m (9100ft) above sea level with a tree-filled interior and a lonesome steam vent to the northeast. A hike to the crater from the base and descend will take 4 hours.
