Great Experience - Had a great experience with Toucan Tours. Mary, Gabriel, and Carlos did a great job. Can’t beat the price. The Mayan Ruins were very cool and the beach was actually really nice. Vendors will blow you up a little, but wasn’t too bad. Shallow for young kids.

Mayan Ruins, Great Experience Great Company - I booked this excursion after researching what was available in Costa Maya. Excursions are always significantly cheaper when booked this way vs booking from the cruise. I appreciated the detailed text on where to meet our excursion because this was our fourth port and each one is different. Our text told us to meet the company in the parking lot by the red golf carts. I learned from other ports you have to make your way through the walled area at the port to find the outside community. As we started to walk through the area I asked a shop person how to find the parking lot, he pointed to a wooden gate, I asked a second person and he also pointed to the gate which read closed. taking a chance I went through the gate and was instantly in the parking lot. We walked past tour buses and found our red golf carts. This is important because others walked for 10-15 min to find the parking lot. We were loaded into a van and taken to their shop to sign our waivers and get our wrist bands. Once we were loaded into the van with 12 other people we made our way to the ruins. They were amazing it took about 45/ 60 min to get to the ruins. once there we stayed with our guide and walked around the park. Amazing history. After our tour we loaded back in the van and made our way back to their shop so we could get to the port. I made the mistake of going through the shops and walled in area instead of finding that same gate. The company, our driver and guides were amazing I would definitely book with them again, within the next few years this port will be like Cozumel and Roatan you have to go outside the walled area to reach your tour. It will be worth it. I felt safe the entire time. The most stressful part is the walled area. Traci

Costa Maya Toucan Tours - Me and my wife we were having a baby moon trip at Costa Maya cruise where mosis, Victor & Carlos was our toure guide and driver at Chacchoben Mayan Ruins from Costa May. Amazing people and great experience. We book at very last month while arriving on port. Few things to look out:- 1) Do not pree book any excursion with cruise. 2) Once you book online find "Viator" or "Costa Maya Toucan Tours" with a BLUE T-shirt. - You can also pay in person at the same price. Fantastic service and support we could ever experience.

Great! No stress - Perfect. Reliable. On time. Not sketchy. Cheap. Better then the cruise offers. The tour guide, Carlos, was super insightful, knowledgeable and experienced. Their bathrooms were not great, so go beforehand

Better & cheaper than the cruise tour! - We had an excellent experience with Toucan Tours in Costa Maya. They were extremely easy to find right outside the port, with vans already waiting, and almost everyone spoke English. Our driver, David, was efficient, fast, and got us to our destination safely. The van was clean and well supplied — they even offered cold water. At the ruins, our tour guide Carlos was outstanding. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the history and also very funny, which made the tour engaging and memorable. While we saw other guides giving the same short explanations you can easily find online, Carlos went into real detail and walked us through the entire site with insight and context. Getting a tour from a local made a huge difference and truly elevated the experience. The ruins themselves were easy to walk through — the ground was solid and not slippery, and most of the path was flat. To reach the largest ruin, there are some larger steps, so I recommend wearing hiking shoes. We had some puddles from rain the day before, but that’s expected in a jungle environment. At the entrance to the ruins there are washrooms and souvenir shops. Carlos advised us that better deals could be found at the beach afterward, which turned out to be true. After the ruins, we were taken to Mahahual Beach, which was small, beautiful, and lined with shops and beachfront restaurants. We spent about an hour there, which felt like the perfect amount of time. While we did try some food at the beach, it was very basic and overpriced with disappointing service — but that has nothing to do with the tour itself. One thing to note is that the road leaving the port is in rough condition, but once past that area, the roads are good. Overall, Toucan Tours delivered a smooth, informative, and well-organized excursion. We would absolutely recommend them for anyone visiting Costa Maya.

Carlos was our tour guide... - Carlos was our tour guide and David was our driver. Both were nice and helpful. We were offered beverages when we got there as well as water bottles which were included in the trip. The drive Is long drive but the ruins were worth the drive. Carlos was funny and approachable.

Fun and interesting tour - Before this tour I knew almost nothing about Mayan civilization and the guide was extremely informative, and the ruins were really cool. Very good driver as well and dropped us at the beach afterwards and took us back to the port a really nice day.

Great experience - Very easy to find the tour company after getting off our ship at the Cruise port. A comfortable bus ride to the site of the ruins with plenty of information provided about the Mayans and their descendants by our tour guide. He had a sense of humor and kept us engaged. Nice easy walk around the site even for seniors like myself. Found the trip to be a great value.

DO NOT BOOK!!! Very shady and dishonest advertising - The tour itself was barley ok. It started off wrong with having to wait for others arriving at different scheduled times than what I booked for. Finally enough people and our on the way. Got to the ruins in everything was good. Basically a self-guided tour, I would have personally liked some verbal history from the tour guide. Was given enough time to enjoy the ruins and loaded back onto the bus for the beach half of the tour. We pulled over into a gas station and the group was divided into people going to the beach and those that weren't. Once being separated, we waited another 15 minutes for another group to join us and be divided. Now by this time I was definitely nervous about being able to get back to my ship before we left. Other people express the same frustration and we were promised we would be back in time. Only we got dropped off to a place of course that they have a partnership with to only be told that our ship leaves before the (combined) group was scheduled to leave. Also, at this point our original tour guide that promise me from the start we would have time for the beach and to get back to the ship wasn't our current tour guide. The current guide had a attitude and a oh well that's your problem "I never told you that". I just left and paid for a taxi myself back the Port as I was limited on time and didn't want to give any more money to this tour or the shady beach vendors that would surround and harass you. AVOID this Tour company at all costs. The advertised itinerary is very shady and you spend more time waiting to be huddled and grouped then actually enjoying the excursion. I REPEAT DO NOT BOOK, VERY SHADY AND DISHONEST.
