Magic - Wonderful walking and listening to your footsteps that are mistaken for birdsong, the sound of the wind and the shock of the sea confuse the land. You must be in good physical condition to walk, the walk at a good pace is 1hour 45 minutes. You have options to return, but the outbound landscape is one and back another, so enjoy the hiking that this beautiful park offers you

Better... I don't think you can. - One of the best experiences I've had from the time of hotel search to return. Our guide Jose Luis, exceeded ALL expectations. Depending on your physical condition, we could know sacred and mystical places, with difficult access but wonderful experience. A person connected to nature, full of people familiar with the area.

A paradise in Santa Marta - I tell you, we decided to pay a guided tour to Cape San Juan, the price approximately 150 dollars a couple, departure from the apartment at 6:30am. The tour from rolling stock to the entrance to the park that took us to San Juan about 40min, however it takes just over an hour as they spend looking for each person included in the tour. Before you start walking you stop for breakfast (this tour did not include any meals). And then transportation enters the park, where the distance from the entrance to where you are left to begin the hike is about 3 kilometers. If you go freelance, public transport without paying tour those 3 kilometers flat with a couple of curves turn them walk. The good starts, in the travel agencies and sales of tour packages mention that it is 7 kilometers outbound and 7 kilometers back. But there is one detail, the one way is on the climb and those 7 kilometers are done approximately in 2 hours. Wet forest, beauties of paths, climbing stairs, climbing between rocks, where monkeys of various species are appreciated. It's kind of like going up to the beach. The journey is nice and enjoyable but if you really tire. The path takes you along several beaches where the only ones suitable for bathing are Arenilla, Playa Pool and Cabo San Juan. My recommendation is to walk, walk and return on horseback, it costs 60,000 Colombian pesos (approximately $15). The horseback riding experience is different the journey less than an hour back on a parallel path intended only for this. Rows of several horses that already know the route with a guide for the horses. The beaches? The most beautiful Cabo San Juan amazing has like two stages one with strong waves and another calmer. But the spectacular photos are on the side of strong waves. But the quietest beach to bathe without waves and where the best restaurant (coconut tree) is Playa Piscina. It is a very quiet beach crystal clear water and serves to enjoy and relax. We were ahead of the guide to enjoy more of these two beaches but by 4pm we were already on site to return to Santa Marta. Next visit we will stay one night in one of the hotels inside, but of course they are expensive.

Tour Cabo San Juan - Great agency, are the operators and tour managers. We have already enjoyed the tour to Cape San Juan twice. Very good accompaniment both for people who walk well, and for even the elderly. Wonderful experience.

Muddy paths ruined trek - Really didn't enjoy this trek (6 Jan2025) mainly due to the extremely muddy slippery wet flooded paths. Despite taking trainers flip flops ended up doing last part of trek bare foot due to the mud. Not pleasant. Beaches were nothing special over crowded over hyped cash only food drinks. Wildlife barely showed itself other than couple smaller monkeys. Actual tour guides were fine. It's the actual experience end reward that were total let down. Tayrona is definitely over hyped in my opinion. Final advice AVOID THE BOAT RIDE back to Santa Marta. 90,000 pesos overcrowded boat engine issues rough seas everyone everything got soaked multiple persons were sea sick journey took 2hrs at snails pace sat on hard seat with wet bottoms. Nightmare! You have been warned.
