Alone with Las Meninas - Ernesto was a friendly and insightful guide to the museum’s paintings and their (art) history. It is indisputably expensive to join this particular tour, but it’s a privilege to be able to experience the great works of the Prado before the museum opens. It’s the first time I’ve have this kind of early access and I would do it again at other big art galleries. If you can afford, it’s worth it.

An Intimate Experience in a Museum Crowded with a Wealth of Masterpieces - The meetup and checkin were seemless and our guide, Jaime, was well prepared. He had a depth of knowledge that allowed him to weave together Spanish history, art history, and the history of the Prado. It was lovely to be in the museum before it opened as Jaime was able familiarize us with the layout while he lead us to and described notable works fram Raphael, Goya, Bosch (and many, many others) with detail and stories that brought them to life in the context of their time. The pace was brisk and we covered a lot of ground. At the end of the tour (~1 hrs 45m) we were pleasantly surprised that our tickets would allow us to remain in the Prado as long as we liked. Most definitely recommend - great value for money. P.S. No photos because they are not permitted by the museum.

The ONLY way to see the Prado - This was my second time taking this tour with Isabellla and I recommend it highly. There is nothing like being in the Prado with just the paintings and no other visitors. Isabella is knowledgeable and enthusiastic and makes sure you see the ‘hits’ up close with a good dose of context. You’ll learn a lot, come to understand why they are important, and maybe love one or more of them.
