Day 1: Cusco – Ajanaco – Watchtower – EcoLodge
Parque Nacional del Manu - The adventure begins at 3:00 a.m. with a hotel pick-up in Cusco. The journey crosses the Andes to Paucartambo for breakfast. Next, the tour proceeds to the Ajanaco viewpoint, the entrance to the Reserved Zone of Manu, where exploration begins. If the weather is favorable, the cloud forest and the transition between the Andes and the Amazon can be admired. The descent through the cloud forest offers sightings of tropical birds, monkeys, and possibly the spectacled bear. The rooster of the rocks, Peru’s national bird, may also be spotted. By noon, the group arrives at the port of Atalaya, where boots and vests are provided. The journey continues for about three hours along the Madre de Dios River to Explore Golden Lodge, with opportunities to observe turtles, monkeys, and birds along the way. Upon arrival, room assignments are made. In the afternoon, a jungle hike is scheduled, followed by dinner in the evening. It’s a long day, but filled with nature and excitement.

Upon reaching the confluence with the Manu River, the tour enters the Reserved Zone of Manu National Park, renowned for its biodiversity. The jungle becomes denser, the environment quieter, and the connection to nature deepens. There is a chance to see a jaguar, black caimans up to 7 meters, white caimans, turtles, and Amazon birds. In the afternoon, a night walk is organized to spot frogs, tarantulas, and snakes. The day concludes at Casa Machiguenga, an eco-friendly community lodge in the heart of the Reserved Zone, built by local families. It offers a simple, authentic experience in harmony with the jungle.
Casa Machiguenga – Cocha Salvador and Cocha Otorongo

In the morning, the group explores Cocha Salvador aboard a silent catamaran, allowing for close encounters with wildlife. Giant otters, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, and birds like the agami heron can be observed. A guided walk follows, providing insights into the forest flora, including ancient trees like fig and ceiba. After lunch, the tour visits Cocha Otorongo, where a 20-meter observation tower offers views of the jungle and possibly a jaguar sighting.
