Lovely misty hike - This was such a wonderful way to explore without having to rent a car. We learned comical and had a wonderful time exploring. The stop for lunch at the waterfall was a truly magical experience.

My first but won't be my last levada walk. - My first levada walk but certainly won't be my last. It did drizzle a bit but it did not mar the day. Where we stopped for lunch by the lagoon was so beautiful and I promised myself that when I return in summer, I will do the same walk to enjoy the lunch at least in warmer and hopefully drier conditions. Thanks to the multilingual Margarita for really making the day and taking care of the group.

Best walks in Madeira - We have used Madeira Explorers many times now and in fact have done most if not all of their walks, some multiple times. They are always quick to respond to emails and are extremely reliable. They pick you up from your hotel and drop you back afterwards and the guides are very friendly and informative. The walks cater for all ages and abilities and are a great way to see the countryside in Madeira. They also stop for a coffee and some cake on the way home. All of the walks are also very reasonably priced.

Great walk for novices and experienced hikers - Perfect hike...you start high, the tou go low down to the Wind lagoon but along the way you experience nature on well -maintained trails. Just expect mud if it has rained recently. The wind lagoon is just breath taking as you watch the water fall and pool. Had it been summer I would have taken a dip...or at least my feet.
Then you head back up and up until you get to the levada do alecrim. You go to the mother source of that levada and have lunch for 30 min. And sitting on a sunny rock in a lagoon with nature surrounding you is awesome.
The final leg of the journey is flat as you follow the levada out.
Our guide Maria was really good. She is native Madeiran and shared info as well as safety tips and rules to be safe.
We were the last ones to leave lunch break, and she brings up the rear of the group walking back, so we got to ask her more questions.
I highly recommend this tour.

The walk was a bit hard... - The walk was a bit hard in certain parts as there were steep ascensions and descensions, but the views and nature were totally worth it. Our guide Margarita was very helpful and informative and made sure everyone was comfortable and safe.

Good Guides despite the bad weather - Good walk along the levadas in a lovely area, despite not great weather the team were positive and helpful leading the group well. The only thing that would have been helpful was a bit more information about what we needed to bring - walking shoes, waterproof layers etc

Beautiful but would not recommend guide - The walk was very pretty but the guide Luisa was not warm or friendly and did not create a pleasant atmosphere, I would not recommend this guided tour, particularly for families.

No show for collection and no follow up. - We booked this tour for the first Sunday in January. Communication with Madeira Explorers was excellent prior to booking, very quick with email replies within office hours and instructions on pick up were clear. We were advised to wait at the hotel reception for pick up between 9 am and 9:15. We were there early, and waited till almost 10. No one came. There is a mobile number on the website for contact outside office hours - there was no reply to texts or calls. The office is closed on a Sunday but I expected an email explanation on Monday - I have had no reply to my emails.
