Overnight Jungle Tour in the Heart of Lokobe National Park - Djema Forest and Djema Resort

Lokobe Nature Special Reserve - Arrive by boat in the afternoon at Djema Resort’s stunning sandy beach on the southern side of Lokobe National Park. The welcoming owner, Steve, and his family will greet visitors with refreshments and fresh tropical fruits from their garden.
Visitors are likely to spot lemur families in the trees surrounding Djema, and often, lemurs can be seen resting during the day in the palm dome of the communal dining area.
There’s an opportunity to snorkel the coral reef off Djema or visit the nearby native village. After sunset, guides will arrive to lead a 2-3 hour nighttime jungle adventure! With headlamps and flashlights, admire the day animals resting peacefully in the jungle trees and observe the nocturnal creatures on the hunt. Encounter mouse and other nocturnal lemurs, geckos, dwarf and other chameleons, snakes, spiders, and more. After the tour, enjoy a delicious Malagasy seafood dinner. Then retire to a simple yet cozy bungalow nestled in the beautifully maintained tropical gardens of Djema.

Lokobe Nature Special Reserve - Start the day with a fresh, hearty breakfast in the communal dining room on the stunning sandy beach, offering fantastic views of the ocean and Nosy Komba Island opposite.
There are several options to choose from.
Accompanied by Steve’s brother, try a traditional Madagascan canoe and paddle over the coral reefs along the national park’s coast.
Alternatively, simply relax and sunbathe.
Snorkel on the coral reefs, either swimming directly from the shore or jumping in from the canoe, at various locations. (Upon request, full snorkel equipment is available from the office, in all sizes)
Additionally, choose a shorter, 1-1.5 hour daytime jungle trek!
Shortly before noon, the speedboat arrives, and it’s time to bid farewell to Djema and return to the marina in Hell Village, and from there, back to the hotel.

A night jungle trek is like no other. Fantastic atmosphere, extraordinary creatures. Only someone who’s been on one knows that. A dense, humid, sultry dark black jungle, broken only by the light of our headlamps and torches, and here and there we come across special animals, either resting or hunting at night. Night lemurs, special dwarf and other chameleons, night geckos, giant snakes, etc…
And, if that’s not enough, sleeping in the middle of a national park in a well-kept jungle, woken up by the cries of lemur families and falling asleep among the sounds of the jungle, is like being in a nature movie.
And on top of that, there’s the chance to relax on a completely private sandy beach, snorkel on the coral reefs and even try paddling a traditional Malagasy canoe.
