This temple was constructed by Queen Hatshepsut, the daughter of Thutmosis I, who ruled Egypt for about 20 years during the 18th Dynasty (circa 1490-1469 B.C.). She was the only woman to reign as a pharaoh in ancient Egypt.
• Temple of Medinat Habu - Then, head to Medinat Habu, an archaeological site located near the Theban Hills on the West Bank of the Nile, opposite modern Luxor. Continue your tour to Deir el Medina, known as the Valley of the Workers. This ancient Egyptian village housed the artisans who worked on the tombs in the Valley of the Kings during the 18th to 20th dynasties of the New Kingdom period (circa 1550–1080 BC). The paintings here remain remarkably well-preserved.
• Valley of the Queens - Afterward, visit the Valley of the Queens, where the wives of pharaohs were buried in ancient times. Known in antiquity as Ta-Set-Neferu, meaning “the place of the Children of the Pharaoh,” this site also contains the tombs of many princes, princesses, and other members of the nobility from the 18th, 19th, and 20th dynasties (1550–1070 BCE).
