- Kornish Al Nile - Capture memorable photos in one of Luxor’s most enjoyable spots. Walk to a vantage point to view the opposite side of Luxor across the Nile and see the boat anchors. Enjoy a coffee at one of Luxor’s oldest coffee shops.
- Luxor Temple - The Luxor Temple is a vast Ancient Egyptian temple complex on the east bank of the Nile River in modern-day Luxor (ancient Thebes), built around 1400 BCE. Known in Egyptian as “the southern sanctuary,” it was one of the two main temples on the east bank, alongside Karnak. Unlike other Theban temples, Luxor Temple is not dedicated to a cult god or a deified pharaoh. Instead, it is devoted to the rejuvenation of kingship and may have been the coronation site for many pharaohs, including Alexander the Great, who claimed to be crowned there, though he may not have traveled south of Memphis, near modern Cairo.
- Abou al-Haggag Mosque - The Mosque of Abu Haggag in Luxor, Egypt, houses the tomb of Sheikh Yusuf Abu al-Haggag, its namesake. The mosque is integrated into the Luxor Temple structure, an Ancient Egyptian worship center, making it one of the world’s oldest continuously used temples, dating back to Pharaoh Amenhotep III’s reign in the 14th century BC.
- El-Souk - The Souks, or local markets, are among Egypt’s most fascinating attractions, and Luxor is no exception. El Souk, a local market near Luxor Temple, offers a variety of goods: spices, scarves, leather items, and more. Locals shop here for food and supplies, with stands selling fruits, vegetables, and meat.
Expect shop owners to invite you into their stores. Embrace the experience and enjoy it. If you’re interested in purchasing something, remember to bargain. Haggling can be an enjoyable experience for both parties.
