Hot Air Balloon and Luxor West Bank Tour
Hot Air Balloon Luxor Take Off Site - Begin around 5:00 am (subject to change) for an extraordinary 20 to 45-minute hot air balloon flight over the west bank of Luxor. Enjoy a breathtaking aerial view of the landscape and iconic landmarks. Witness the sunrise illuminating the sky of Luxor, the open-air museum city, over the magnificent temples and mountains below.
Valley of the Kings - After breakfast, embark on an unforgettable journey to the west bank to visit the Valley of the Kings. Here, the pharaohs of the New Kingdom carved their tombs into the mountains to conceal their treasures and protect their mummies.
Howard Carter House - Next, visit the domed mud-brick house where Howard Carter resided during his search for Tutankhamun’s tomb. Surrounded by a garden on a barren slope above the road from Deir Al Bahari to the Valley of the Kings, the house has been restored and adorned with pictures and tools from the excavations. An exact replica of Tutankhamun’s burial chamber has been constructed at the garden’s edge, along with an exhibition related to the tomb’s discovery.
Art Valley Alabaster Factory - Afterwards, visit the alabaster factory where artisans still bring stones from the quarry and craft them into various handmade items, just like the ancient Egyptians.
Tombs of the Nobles - Luxor - Proceed to the Valley of the Nobles, a collection of tombs belonging to nobles such as Ramose, Senniffer, Menna, and over 400 Theban nobles. These tombs, marked by numbers, feature beautifully carved scenes. Nestled in the foothills opposite the Ramesseum, there are more than 400 tombs.
Ramesseum (Mortuary Temple of Ramses II) - Continue to the Ramesseum Temple, considered the memorial temple (or mortuary temple) of Pharaoh Ramses II. Located in the Theban Necropolis in Upper Egypt, on the west bank of the Nile River, across from modern Luxor, the design of Ramesses’s mortuary temple follows the standard canons of New Kingdom temple architecture.
Temple of Medinat Habu - Visit the Medinat Habu Temple of King Ramses III, the last great warrior pharaoh of the New Kingdom (1550 – 1080 B.C). The temple is a well-preserved example of New Kingdom memorial temples, adorned with military scenes and texts illustrating the king’s victories, as well as rituals and festivals. A royal palace was attached to the temple’s open forecourt, with priests’ dwellings and administrative units on either side.
Habiba Hand Weaving - Then, visit Habiba for hand weaving, specializing in hand-woven scarves made from Egyptian cotton, linen, and wool. Local hand weavers also sell machine-made scarves and shawls in cotton and cotton blends. In a rural setting on Luxor’s west bank, with views of the nobles’ tombs, women continue to craft handmade cloth from pure cotton, offering a glimpse into traditional hand-weaving techniques.
Colossi of Memnon - Conclude your west bank tour with a photo stop in front of the colossal statues of Memnon.
Luxor East Bank and Esna Temple
Temple of Karnak - Your guide will pick you up from your hotel, and you’ll drive to see the largest temple ever built: Karnak Temple, constructed over 2,000 years and covering about 63 acres. Capture stunning photos among its massive pillars and obelisks.
Luxor Temple - Next, you’ll be transferred to enjoy Luxor Temple on the East Bank of Luxor, where ancient Egyptian, Christian, and Islamic features are showcased.
Temple of Khnum - Finally, drive approximately one hour to the Temple of Khnum in Esna, south of Luxor. This temple is considered one of the most beautiful, with its vibrant colors and intricate carvings on the columns. The temple is located in the heart of Esna city.
