- Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - The tour begins with a visit to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, who reigned over Egypt for more than 21 years. The temple features terraces, with the first terrace currently closed for restoration. The second terrace houses two chapels: the first is dedicated to Anubis, the ancient Egyptian god of mummification, depicted with a jackal’s head and a black face. The vibrant colors inside this chapel are original, dating back over 3,000 years. The chapel on the left is dedicated to Hathor, the goddess of beauty, childhood, motherhood, and music in ancient Egypt. The final stop is the upper terrace, where the sanctuary is located, the most significant part of the temple, rich with fascinating stories.
- Valley of the Kings - This is Egypt’s most important archaeological site. Visitors will delve deep into the mountain to explore this astonishing site, home to 62 royal tombs of various ancient Egyptian kings and queens. The tomb walls are inscribed with ancient Egyptian texts, including the Book of the Dead, the Book of Caverns, the Book of Gates, and the Book of the Earth.
- Colossi of Memnon - The tour concludes at the West Bank with the exploration of the magnificent Colossi of Memnon, two enormous monolithic statues. Each statue stands about 16.6 meters high and is carved from red granite sourced from a quarry in Cairo. The name Memnon is Greek, and these statues originally belonged to King Amenophis III, known as “The Magnificent” due to the prosperity and artistic splendor of his reign.
- Temple of Medinat Habu - This temple is a masterpiece of ancient Egyptian architecture, built by King Ramses III in dedication to Amun Ra, the sun god and the most important deity in ancient Egypt. Inside, visitors will see the Ritual Massacre and numerous cartouches containing the king’s name. Each cartouche is an oval circle with the king’s name inside. Every ancient Egyptian king had two names: the birth name, given at birth, and the coronation name, assumed upon ascending the throne as the lord of Upper and Lower Egypt.
- Karnak Open Air Museum - The tour then moves to the east bank to visit the world’s largest temple complex, the Karnak Temples. These temples were initiated on December 23, 1946 B.C., at the start of Egypt’s Middle Kingdom, and completed in the New Kingdom. Inside, visitors will marvel at the stunning Hall of Columns, the largest in the world, with 134 columns. This hall could accommodate the Notre Dame Cathedral in France, covering about 5,000 square meters. The site also features a sacred lake, originally underground, and an impressive statue of King Ramses, standing upright with crossed arms, holding the royal symbols of authority and power, the hook and the flail.
- Luxor Temple - Known as the Temple of Different Civilizations, Luxor Temple was constructed in 1974 B.C. by King Amenophis III and completed by King Ramses II. This unique temple showcases the Ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman, and Islamic civilizations, featuring both a mosque and a church. Luxor Temple has two obelisks; one remains in the temple, while the other was gifted by Egypt’s King Mohamed Ali Pasha to France’s King Louis Philippe and now stands in the Place de la Concorde in Paris.
