Harmonious perfection. - Another wonder of the Egyptian ancients, immaculately built on a hill overlooking the Nile, before arriving at Aswan.

Illustrious Temple on the Nile - Our cruise boat got to Kom Ombu around 6 pm in the evening. At the time the Nile is glowing in beauty, the weather is cooler and breezier, and we have the luxury of entering the Kom Ombu Temple directly from the boat which is quite an experience. The Kom Ombu Temple is very unique and rightfully famous. The Temple is around 30 miles north of Aswan. It was built in the 3rd century BC. It is regarded as a double Temple dedicated to Sobek the crocodile God and Horus the Falcon God. Both Temples are adjacent to each other and there is an added attraction in the crocodile museum nearby. The Temple has grand columns, and its walls capture vivid scenes of festivals and rituals which offer a look into the Egyptian culture. Don’t forget to check out the Nilometer at the Temple which was used traditionally to monitor the height of the Nile. The boat did not stop at Kom Ombu for too long and there is a lot to see there but we were able to complete the tour in about two hours thanks to our expert guide

Kom Ombo Temple - Continuing the Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan, we passed by the city of Kom Ombo and thus visited its beautiful temple, where we took a horse-drawn carriage from the Nile dock to the temple. It was a beautiful day and gave us important and valuable information about the ancient Egyptian civilization.

IF YOU CAN SEE AT SUNSET:) - One more temple, perhaps not as grand as others but with an equally attractive history. In our case we visited it at sunset which made the visit more special and not so crowded. Right next door is the Crocodile Museum.

The God of the River - Coming in the dark from the Nile and docking right in front of the temple is priceless! One of the best preserved Ptolemaic temples in Egypt, dedicated to the two dangerous gods of the Nile, the crocodile Sobek and the hippo Twosret. The visit is suggestive and mysterious, the new small museum shows several mummified crocodiles. A pearl not to be missed. the cost of the ticket is 450 Egyptian lira, 9 Euro.

Beautiful architecture - A Opening Hours : 7 am to 9 pm B. Entry Ticket: EGP 250 pp      C. Location : Nagoa Ash Shatb, Markaz Kom Ombo, Aswan Governorate 1281301, Egypt D. History:  Built by Ptolemy in 2nd century0 BCE,  this is a twin mirrored temple of Sobek ( crocodile God) on the southern side and the elder (Falcon God) on the North. Much of the temples got destroyed by the Nile flooding and earthquakes. The structure was discovered from debris cover and restored by Jacques de Morgan in 1893.       We visited this beautiful architecture from our Nile Cruise in the evening. The entire complex was well light and glowing. The beautiful carvings and graffitis on the wall and the structure is worth a visit. There is a seperate crocodile museum adjacent to the temple where crocodile mummies are displayed.

At night - Kom Shadow is not the best known or most beautiful temple but it deserves to be visited at night. It gives another perspective

Visit early in the morning to avoid the crowds - A good visit if you can get there early in the morning before the big boat tours arrive. The Avenue of the Doctors was particularly interesting with the hieroglyphs of medical devices. Also the hearing ear where you can speak to the priests who would speak to the gods on your behalf.
