Private Dahabiya Nile Cruise from Luxor to Aswan — Seamless, Intimate, and Exceptional Value - We booked a 4-night, 5-day private dahabiya cruise from Luxor to Aswan with Odysseys Voyage, and it stands among the most extraordinary travel experiences of our lives. Planning a Nile cruise from abroad can feel overwhelming. The spectrum ranges from large, multi-deck cruise ships to ultra-exclusive private sailings costing tens of thousands per person. We were genuinely intimidated. I contacted more than 50 companies. From my very first exchange with Mohamed Mousa, the CEO of Odysseys Voyage, the confusion disappeared. He clearly outlined the differences between cruise styles, explained the pros and cons with transparency, and helped us understand what would be a transformative experience for us, not just what sounded luxurious on paper. We chose a traditional private dahabiya (accommodating up to 10 guests), a small, elegant sailing boat that allows access to quieter parts of the Nile inaccessible to larger ships. It was the perfect decision for us. From the moment we landed in Luxor, greeted at the airport gate, to Mohamed personally welcoming us at our boutique hotel well after midnight, we felt completely cared for. The hotel itself, newly opened and modeled after traditional architecture, was a beautiful and peaceful introduction to Upper Egypt. Treated to an elaborate breakfast buffet opened early for us to enable best timing for Luxor site-seeing ahead of the crowds! Beginning in Luxor before boarding was a strategic advantage. We visited Luxor Temple first and nearly alone, a rare privilege that large cruise operators simply cannot replicate. Over the following days we explored Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, the Colossi of Memnon, El Kab’s remarkably preserved tombs (including witnessing active archaeological work), the Temple of Horus in Edfu after the cruise crowds had departed, Gebel el-Silsila, Kom Ombo at sunrise, Daraw’s camel market, Philae Temple, and more. Our private Egyptologist, Hassan, was exceptional, deeply knowledgeable, calm, and endlessly patient. He remained with us throughout the entire journey, creating continuity and depth rarely found in larger group travel. Life onboard the dahabiya was magical. We were welcomed with fresh fruit smoothies each afternoon after our explorations. We woke to birdsong and gentle waves. The sails rose dramatically as Hassan captured photographs from a tug boat, images we will treasure forever. We enjoyed a beach dinner on Ramadi Island under a tent with freshly grilled lamb, traditional music, and dancing. We visited villages during Ramadan, met artisans and farmers, tasted fresh sugar cane, and sailed quietly past riverbanks teeming with birdlife. The crew transformed the experience into something truly intimate, a few we got to know personally but takes away nothing from the others who we did not meet: • Mahmud, our butler, anticipated every detail effortlessly including getting fresh farm sourdough after we saw some rising in town and brewing delicious cappuccinos each day • Malik, our chef, and his son prepared thoughtful, beautiful meals daily, learning our preferences as the days passed and offering new things for us to try • Ali and Hagag kept the ship running seamlessly behind the scenes. • Captain Jofre led with warmth and even joined us in song and dance one unforgettable evening. One afternoon, a khamsin (a powerful desert wind and sandstorm) threatened the region. The itinerary was adjusted swiftly and thoughtfully for safety, communicated with full transparency and complete calm. At no point did we feel concerned or inconvenienced, only reassured. It was a powerful example of experienced leadership and responsible luxury travel. When our flight to Abu Simbel was unexpectedly cancelled, Mohamed and Hassan reorganized the remainder of our time in Aswan without hesitation, even adding a private motorboat excursion to a Nubian village for dinner along the Nile. And immediately made sure we were fully refunded for that part of the journey that we could not accomplish, even though it was no fault of theirs. There was no chaos. No buffet lines. No aggressive vendor pressure. No safety concerns. Just beauty, thoughtful pacing, and complete peace of mind. Perhaps most surprising of all: this fully private, curated luxury Nile cruise cost significantly less than many of the larger “luxury” cruise options we had explored. The value was exceptional and entirely unexpected. If you are considering a private Nile cruise, a dahabiya sailing from Luxor to Aswan, or luxury travel in Egypt and want an experience that is intimate, seamless, and deeply personal, Odysseys Voyage is the team to trust. We experienced the Nile slowly, beautifully, and in a way that felt authentic to us and to the river itself. With deep gratitude, Laura & Chris New York

Dream come true! - Dreamed of coming to Egypt my whole life and Odysseys voyage made it happen! The Luxor experience from temples to hot air balloon rides was absolutely incredible. Ask for Rady to be your Luxor Guide! Trust me! He is a local Egyptologist that is full of knowledge, let us take our time and explained every detail of the temples. When travelling to Luxor ask for Rady and don't except anyone else as your guide.
