Arrival at the Nile Cruise & Luxor East Bank Tour - Recommended Arrival Time: 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM
Luxor - A representative from Let’s Discover Egypt will greet you at your hotel in Luxor, Luxor airport, or railway station. You will then be transferred to board your 5-star Nile cruise before lunch. Enjoy lunch on board, followed by a visit to the East Bank, including the Karnak and Luxor Temples. Dinner will be served on board, accompanied by a folkloric show. Overnight stay in Luxor. Meals: Lunch, Dinner. Note: If you arrive in Luxor early (recommended), the tour will commence immediately upon arrival to avoid waiting for the cruise check-in at 12:00 PM and to make the most of your time.
Karnak Open Air Museum - After lunch, embark on a tour of Luxor’s East Bank, visiting the Karnak temples. Karnak is more than just a temple; it is a magnificent complex of sanctuaries, kiosks, pylons, and obelisks dedicated to the Theban gods and the glory of Egypt’s pharaohs. Karnak was the most significant site for worshiping the Theban Triad (Amun, Mut, and Khonso). Then, proceed to enjoy the Luxor Temple.
Luxor Temple - Following the Karnak Temples, visit Luxor Temple, primarily constructed by New Kingdom Pharaoh Amenhotep III of the 18th dynasty and completed by King Tutankhamun and the Great King Ramses II. The first pylon was erected by Ramses II and adorned with scenes from his military Battle of Kadesh. Dinner on board, followed by a folkloric show. Overnight in Luxor.
Hot Air Balloon Ride & Luxor West Bank Visit
Hot Air Balloons Luxor - Early in the morning, embark on an unforgettable hot air balloon ride over Luxor’s west bank, offering a breathtaking aerial view of the city’s landscape and famous landmarks. Enjoy the open-air museum city (Luxor) from above, with views of the great temples and mountains below (40 to 55-minute ride). Breakfast Box provided.
Colossi of Memnon - After the balloon ride, stop for photos at the Colossi of Memnon, two magnificent twin statues representing Pharaoh Amenhotep III, with two smaller statues at their feet (one of his wife and the other his mother). These statues stand majestically on the horizon of Luxor. Each statue is 60 feet tall and marks the entrance to Amenhotep III’s mortuary temple. Named the Colossi of Memnon due to a phenomenon caused by an earthquake, these statues were originally built in the Theban Necropolis west of the Nile River in modern Luxor. Made of quartzite sandstone, they were transported 420 miles from El-Gabal el-Ahmar near modern Cairo to Thebes. Then, proceed to the Hatshepsut temple.
Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - Visit the Queen Hatshepsut temple and discover her beautiful temple and intriguing story with her nephew. Rising from the desert plain in a series of terraces, the temple of Hatshepsut merges with the sheer limestone cliffs of the eastern face of the Theban Mountain, as if nature itself constructed this extraordinary monument. Then, drive to the Valley of the Kings.
Valley of the Kings - Arrive at the Valley of the Kings, known as the Great Place of Truth, now called the Valley of the Kings. This majestic domain of the pharaohs once housed great stone sarcophagi, awaiting immortality. Explore the complex and see the tombs and resting places of remarkable Egyptian kings such as Merneptah, Ramesses III, and Ramesses VI. Return to the cruise and prepare for navigation by afternoon, heading to Edfu city through Esna Lock. Lunch on board, relax on the sundeck, and admire the beautiful scenery of the Nile River while enjoying afternoon tea. Cross Esna Lock, dinner on board, and overnight in Edfu City.
Visit Edfu Temple & Kom Ombo Temple
Temple of Horus - Enjoy breakfast on board, then visit Edfu Temple, the most well-preserved temple in Egypt, dedicated to the hawk-god Horus. The construction of the Ptolemaic temple of Horus, founded on the site of an earlier temple, dates back to the reigns of Ptolemy III (237 B.C.). The wall descriptions include the myth of the contention between Horus and Seth, likely performed annually as a religious drama. Return to the cruise, relax on the sundeck, and admire the beautiful scenery of the Nile River while sailing to Kom Ombo City. Lunch on board and afternoon tea on the sundeck.
Temple of Kom Ombo - Enjoy approximately 5 hours of sailing to Kom Ombo City while savoring tea time on the sundeck. Upon arrival, visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, located 45 km north of Aswan. The temple was dedicated to the god Sobek Ra, the crocodile god, and the god Horus the Elder. Built in 180 B.C. by the Ptolemaic dynasty during the Roman invasion, the temple’s unique location on the riverbank between Edfu and Aswan makes it a wonderful stop for Nile cruises. Sail to Aswan, dinner on board, and enjoy a Galabeya Party. Overnight in Aswan City.
Aswan Day Tour
Aswan High Dam - After breakfast on board, begin your day tour by visiting the High Dam, completed in 1960 to protect Egypt from flooding and generate electricity. Prepare for an impressive sightseeing experience, as the Aswan High Dam is truly remarkable. The dam is 3,600 meters long, 980 meters thick at the base, and 111 meters tall at its highest point. The waters of Lake Nasser, the world’s largest man-made lake, have accumulated behind it, providing irrigation water and electricity for all of Egypt. Located 13 km south of Aswan, then proceed to visit Philae Temple.
Temple of Philae - Continue to Philae Temple, the Greco-Roman temple dedicated to the goddess Isis, accessed by a small motorboat. This beautiful temple complex is one of Egypt’s most picturesque sites, located on Aglika Island just south of the old Aswan Dam. The temple was relocated to its current location following the construction of the High Dam, which threatened to submerge it permanently. Philae gained prominence during the Ptolemaic Dynasty as the center of the cult of the goddess Isis. This complex was one of the last places where the ancient religion survived after Christianity’s arrival in Egypt, officially closing only in 551 AD. Early Christians then used the main temple on the island as a church. Return to your Nile cruise. Lunch on board, dinner on board, folkloric show, and optional tour to the Nubian Village. Overnight in Aswan.
Check-out & Visit Abu Simbel Temple - Tour Concludes Around 2:00 PM
Abu Simbel Temple Complex - Around 4:30 AM, check out, then join a small group to visit the Abu Simbel Temple, one of Egypt’s most impressive sites. The rock-cut temples of Abu Simbel, with their unique design, were built for King Ramesses II and his beloved Queen Nefertari. The two temples of Abu Simbel, with their distinctive style, are considered masterpieces of ancient Egypt, reflecting the glory and grandeur of the New Kingdom. The Egyptian government and UNESCO collaborated to save these temples from flooding. The Temple of Ramesses II was dedicated to the four universal gods Ptah, Re-Her-Akhtey, Amun-Re, and Ramesses II himself. The great Abu Simbel temple is also known as the Sun Temple of Ramesses II. The Temple of Queen Nefertari is also called the Temple of Hathor, who was the wife of the god Horus, symbolically. Return to Aswan, then transfer to Aswan Airport, railway station, or your hotel in Aswan. Lunch not included. Breakfast Box provided.
