The tour guide will meet guests at Luxor Airport, waiting outside the arrival hall with a sign displaying their name to begin the tour to the Valley of the Kings. This site served as the royal cemetery for 62 Pharaohs and is situated on the west bank of Luxor. The tour continues to the Temple of Deir El-Bahri, dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut, renowned for its unique design and decorations. Unlike most New Kingdom funerary temples, it was constructed from limestone rather than sandstone. Next, visitors will see the Colossi of Memnon, two massive statues that once guarded the entrance of Amenhotep III’s temple. These statues are the only remnants today, and the name “Colossi of Memnon” means ‘Ruler of the Dawn,’ likely due to one statue’s “singing” at dawn. A lunch break will be taken at a local restaurant in Luxor. The journey proceeds to Karnak Temple, the largest temple complex in the world, featuring a collection of temples such as the Great Temple of Amon Ra, the Temple of Khonso, the Ipt Temple, the Temple of Ptah, the Temple of Montho, and the Temple of the God Osiris. These structures are enclosed by a 20-meter high mud brick wall. Karnak Temple comprises three main temples, smaller enclosed temples, and several outer temples, located about 3 kilometers north of Luxor on 100 hectares (247 acres) of land. Finally, the tour includes a visit to Luxor Temple, the center of the significant Opet Festival. Primarily built by Amenhotep III and Rameses II, the temple was used for the festival’s rituals, which aimed to reconcile the ruler’s human and divine aspects. At the end of the tour, guests will be driven back to Luxor Airport.
