The Armenian countryside was amazingly rugged - This trip was very enjoyable. I opted for a private tour over 2 days and one night. I paid extra for the accommodation. Arthur started the trip by saying, “It’s your trip & I’m here to make it a good trip for you”. Arthur was a safe driver and he put my needs first. I could sense he enjoyed his job, wanted the best trip for me and was passionate about Armenia. Arthur used his experience & moved the itinerary around at my agreement, so I would have the best experience based on the weather. This was particularly the case with using the Tatev Cableway. Arthur, looked after my welfare and as a solo mature aged traveller I appreciated his care and concern. Overall Arthur put me first and this attitude enhanced my trip. I loved the view of Mt Ararat from Khor Virap monastery. Arthur suggested the Areni Wine Festival was on that day and asked if I wanted to go. I spent just over an hour there, and watched students in traditional dress doing Armenian dancing. This was a surprise & a highlight! I was impressed with the rugged and rocky scenery on the drive. The Tatev Cableway was a wonderful sight re a gorge area. The Monastery was interesting. Next day I visited Karahunge, a Bronze Age observatory made up of a circle of Standing Stones. This was amazing (read up on it before you go, cos there are no English interpretive signs). Next was a visit to Shaki Falls, at my request, cos I’m allergic to alcohol and couldn’t do the wine tasting ant Areni that was advertised. The falls were beautiful. Finally we drove through this spectacular red craggy rock gorge to see Norovank Monastery. I achieved all of the program and returned to Yerevan at 4.30pm on the second day. I had a delightful time, especially due to Arthur, my driver. Thanks
