Longmen Grottoes–White Horse Temple
Longmen Grottoes - A private guide and driver will collect you from your hotel in Zhengzhou and drive you to Luoyang, which takes approximately 2 hours. The first stop is the Longmen Grottoes, situated on both sides of the Yi River, south of the ancient capital of Luoyang in Henan province. These impressive carvings are considered the finest among China’s grottoes, featuring over 2,300 caves and niches carved into the steep limestone cliffs along a 1km stretch.
White Horse Temple - After enjoying a local lunch, the tour continues to the White Horse Temple, recognized as the birthplace of Buddhism in China, established in 68 AD under Emperor Ming of the Eastern Han dynasty. The site also showcases beautiful examples of Thai, Burmese, and Indian temples.
Once the tour concludes, you will be dropped off at your Luoyang hotel (arranged by yourself) or at Luoyang Ancient Cultural Street.

Originally constructed in 495 during the Northern Wei Dynasty (368-534), it is renowned as ‘the Number One Temple under Heaven’. With your tour guide, you will visit Shanmen Hall, Hall of Heavenly Kings, and Thousand-Buddha Hall.
Pagoda Forest of Shaolin Temple - Next, explore the Pagoda Forest at Shaolin Temple, the most fascinating part of the complex. It consists of 228 stone or brick pagodas built from 791 AD during the Tang Dynasty through the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties.
Shaolin Martial Arts Hall - Accompanied by your guide, enjoy a 30-minute authentic Kungfu performance by Shaolin monks.
Afterwards, you can choose to have a vegetarian lunch at the temple or enjoy a local meal outside.
