Explore the “Vallecitos” area, situated in the Department of Lujan de Cuyo, in the town of Potrerillos, approximately 100 km from Mendoza city. At Cerro Arenales, enjoy a leisurely walk while appreciating the local flora and fauna, all set against a stunning mountain backdrop. This enjoyable hike offers a summit view that showcases much of the Cordón del Plata park and the Potrerillos towns. Many mountaineers use this hill for acclimatization before tackling higher peaks.
The tour begins in Mendoza (800 m.a.s.l.) at 8:30 a.m., aiming to reach the Vallecitos shelters (2900 m.a.s.l.) before noon. Upon arrival, the trek to Cerro Arenales will commence at a comfortable and easy pace.
Activity difficulty: EASY to MODERATE. While the hike lacks technical challenges, the difficulty lies in reaching the Vallecitos refuge area by vehicle at 2900 m.a.s.l., and then ascending to 3400 m.a.s.l.
