Epic aerial tour of Mendoza - What an amazing adventure ! We had a great time with Charlie O'Maley who drove us out to the airfield where we met the pilot and his son. We got to visit the San Martin Aero Club and get acquainted with the various planes in the hangar, including a Stearman biplane and the Cessna Skymaster that we used for the aerial tour. What a blast ! There is so much to see from the air, we even got to fly under a hot air balloon ! We were also fortunate to have excellent weather - clear and mild temperature. After landing, we socialized some more with the pilot and his son and received certificates for the occasion. If you love seeing things from the air, treat yourself this is a must ! the bet part of my trip to Mendoza - Yesterday I took the aerial tour of the vineyards in a red biplane. From 3000 feet I could see all the way to the horizon, the perfectly squared vemeyards, and the intricate network of irrigation canals. An aerial view gave me a better understanding of just how vast the vineyards are in the Mendoza area. As a bonus we flew around a hot air balloon a few time. In our WW I style biplane, I felt like The Red Baron! The hot air balloon must have shot some great photos. The pilot was friendly and an excellent pilot as we landed on a dirt runway.
