Setting Sail for La Paz

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I found myself at the Cabo Trek office, ready to embark on an adventure that promised to be unlike any other. The allure of swimming with whale sharks in La Paz had been calling to me ever since I first heard about it. As someone who has spent countless hours riding the waves and exploring the ocean’s depths, the chance to swim alongside these gentle giants was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.

The journey to La Paz was a scenic 2.5-hour drive, filled with anticipation and excitement. Our guides, Maria and Adriana, were a dynamic duo, full of energy and passion for the ocean. They shared stories of past encounters with whale sharks, setting the stage for what was to come. The drive was a perfect time to relax and mentally prepare for the day ahead, knowing that the best was yet to come.

Diving into the Deep

We headed to a local restaurant to indulge in some of the best fish tacos I’ve ever tasted. The flavors were as vibrant as the day’s adventures, a perfect way to refuel after our time in the water.

As we made our way back to Cabo, we stopped at the iconic Hotel California in Todos Santos. It was a delightful surprise, adding an extra layer of charm to an already unforgettable day. Reflecting on the experience, I realized that this adventure was more than just a chance to swim with whale sharks. It was a reminder of the beauty and mystery of the ocean, a call to cherish and protect it.
