Our entire family group had a wonderful experience. The guides were very professional and helpful, the ride was fun, the views were spectacular, and the bbq dinner was a nice way to end the evening. Thank you so much for a great ride!
The views are incredible! Overall our ride and dinner were great! Staff and guides were incredibly nice and very concerned that everyone got a horse they felt comfortable on. I have been to Los Angeles many times but had never gone on a ride. It is definitely something I will do again. Also the horses looked to be well taken care of. Thanks to the staff at Sunset Ranch for a great time!
everything was well prepared and guides were very nice
Amazing trainers. Amazing & unforgettable experience & and Amazing & gorgeous view. Food was actually pretty good as well.
The guide were a delight and very encouraging to beginners.
Sunset Ranch Hollywood deserves 5 stars! Yes, they work hard for it. Myself and two sons opted for the Sat 2 hour ride ending in a BBQ. The drive through N. Beachwood Drive to the ranch is very nice to begin with. Sarah, who by telephone and email, assisted with my reservations and a cancellation of a member of our group, was helpful and always very sweet in the process. Thank you Sarah! The horses are well cared for and treated well and the staff matches you to the best horse for you. Once, high on the trail, you could look to the right and see the full breadth of Los Angeles to the ocean and look to the left and see the breadth of Glendale below...where else could you get that picture...and on horseback to boot?! The views of the Observatory and the Hollywood sign and many others were great also.
The guide was a pro and ahead of me in line, but the spice during the ride was Cassandra. She rode the line and made sure that all was well and her knowledge of the history of the ranch and trivia was awesome and she talked and shared during the entire ride. Thank you, Cassandra! The ride lasted about 1 hr 45 min and ended back at the ranch for the BBQ. Serving was Sarah, helpful and sweet as ever! The BBQ is southern style and...YUM! The food was prepared by 'Bledso's' on LaBrea and I'll have to drop by to eat there as they do know how to cook! I met some great people on this ride and the staff graciously took pictures with us along with the chickens, dogs, pigs and other earth friends.
What a wonderful experience and worth every penny...and then some! And if you enjoy this ride ... do your best to tip these dedicated people.
We will be back!
The views and location of the ranch are in itself stunning and unbeatable. I felt however that the overall vibe was that of routine. The whole time there was reminiscent of herding and not what the sentiment is in all people's hearts: a wonderful two hours on horses overlooking the incredible mountains and vistas of Los Angeles paired with a little food together. The BBQ is neither set up in a loving way nor is anyone there after a while to be around the riders, so we just left without anyone around to say good bye or express thank you to. Everything had an overall vibe of business and 'hope it is over soon'. Except for Becka, who was a lot of fun, chose our horses and entertained us during the ride. She was the star of this whole fairly expensive outing which we were asked to tip highly for as well. It all left a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth.
it was a great experience. The organization was great, our guide did a great job. The view was breathtaking. Thanks a lot!
Great tour guides, scenic views, and excellent BBQ! Our youth had a great time. Thank you!
We chose this for a surprise anniversary gift for my sister and brother-in-law! They enjoy horseback riding and it has been something they have said they wanted to do. They throughly enjoyed it! And the food afterwards was delicious. 4 family members surprised them and showed up at the dinner to eat with them. The staff was so welcoming and very friendly! We all just loved walking around the ranch and seeing all the animals too. A great experience!
The ride was pleasant, the view was amazing. And the bbq was amazing! The girl singing was really good as well
Hi, There was a lot of people the day we were there and they did well to get going on time. The food was great and the singer did good, she did not sing country songs. The ride was great and guide was fun. Over all had great time, Thank you. Gary
I love horses, good views, and bbq. And all three aspects exceeded my expectations.
the best looking horses I have ever seen at a hourly rental. My horse was all about business, the horses are so well trained, sit back relax and take in the sights! The dust is to reconsidered, maybe bring something to cover your face for about 10 mins of the ride when other horse/riders cross-by. The dinner was casual, but the singer was so good, I believe her name is Julirey Irons or Myers I wish I could remember.
I have a lot of thoughts about my experiences ranking this overall a 88/100 in experience.
Experience overall: 8/10
I thought it was incredibly fun, but the saddles kept hurting my knee joints (as well as everyone elses when I asked). I'm sure there's a more comfortable saddle / experience in general, but this wasn't it. My horse (Matrix) was a brilliant one as he kind of ran on auto-pilot.
Worth every penny to do the horse tour / barbecue afterward. It's also worth it to pay for the 2 hour if you don't intend to eat.
Horse Selection: 10/10
Plenty of horses to choose from with varying personalities--I love horses now. I used to be more afraid of them, but I'm glad this experience opened me up to having a lot of empathy for carrying my 200 lbs. butt.
Dressing for the occasion: 10/10
They tell you to dress in long pants, bring sun glasses, and wear a helmet (they'll provide one if you didn't bring one of your own, but I brought one of my own).
They are fast and great about communicating what you should and should not do when riding horses. When you go a little fast on the horse, it's a lot of fun, but that's only for a few seconds as the trail does not allow you to go faster than a trot.
What could be better:
Make sure the saddles duck-toe outwards, not pidgeon-toe inward. The pulling sensation is painful and terrifying.
Great customer service, friendly staff and beautiful scenery. The food was great as well and just over all a unforgettable experience.
Mikaela and the rest of the staff were patient, friendly and knowledgeable. Scenery was fantastic and the horses were well behaved, even for beginners. The food was really tasty and everyone loved the farm animals running around loose - Petunia the pig was especially charming.
I enjoyed the ranxh set up & location & personnel. I have ridden here several times over the years & always had a good experience. Beautiful scenery.
Staff were great. Food was great. Horse didn't throw me!
Views on ride were spectacular! Guides were very nice and knowledgeable.
Food was awesome!
All of the people working there were so friendly.
Views were great, staff was attentive, food was tasty. Fun "rural" experience in the middle of the big city!
It was just a wonderful trip. The guides were excellent and made everyone feel comfortable. We will be back with friends.
The guides were so nice and helpful. The ride was beautiful and the horses were great!
We had a great time on our ride! The guides were knowledgable and seemed to really love their jobs. It was sweet how much they love each individual horse, and they can tell you all about each one. It was a beautiful ride, and I would definitely do it again.
Great time, great staff and heck, I liked my horse, Singer.
The trail ride was very good, but the food can still be improved.
Excellent guides and awesome trail knowledge.
Its was really fun riding and the food was delish!
Everything was quite lovely, great friendly and helpful staff. Had a great time.
(Only one point of concern is that the required helmets are not sanitized in between riders. Maybe some kind of head covering could be provided.)
Still, would definitely recommend!
The guides were well experienced and seemed truly interested and caring. The horses were ok. I wish you'd served beer at the bbq because I did not see the "BYOB" sign.
We loved the trail & guides were great. Mostly was looking forward to the live band & drinks at the end. We have a big group we planned to book after this trip, but if I have everyone pay w/the disappointment of no band at the end, that would not go over well. We did BYOB, but only enjoyed one beverage since the ending was not as we expected. And it wasn’t an actual BBQ, more of food brought in.
