This was one of the best experiences I've ever had. Friendly staff, beautiful horses and a ride we with views that will leave you speechless. If you have the opportunity to do the BBQ and live music after you qon't be disappointed!
Was overall a great experience...would recommend the ability to briefly stop somewhere halfway with a view to take breaks and a restroom break. Overall great
My kids and I did the horse back riding and bbq dinner. The staff and guides were great! We were running late and they waited for us so we could still do our ride. Dinner was catered in BBQ and was nice to eat after the ride. The horses are also very well taken care of. We would recommend Sunset Ranch.
One of the most beautiful experiences of my life! I highly recommend this outing to anyone! It is beautiful and unforgettable! Thank you to the friendly, professional staff for a great time and delicious dinner! :)
Good experience for beginners. Beautiful view. Good dinner.
Fun experience and great food
We had an awesome experience. The whole staff was excellent and they made us feel comfortable the whole time. We will definitely be back for another great time.
Sunset Ranch was recommended by a friend. It was everything and more. The staff was fantastic. Our guides were Cassandra and Katie. They were both very knowledgeable and friendly. The barbecue was delicious. I was so happy with the experience and look forward to going back.
It is definitely a lovely place to go for a ride and see the city from a hilltop. Our guides were exceptionally good and seriously talented with horses. Horses all seemed well taken care of and they were extremely gentle. I was surprised to see they didn't have any flushed toilets as they are right in the city. Even up in Nationally parks, you can find gravity flowed toilets that flush. But the outhouse served its purpose just fine.
The overall experience was amazing! The staff were so nice and friendly and made sure everyone had a great time! And of course we can’t forget about all of the awesome horses that the ranch has, I’m partial to skip since that’s who I got paired with! Thank you to all the staff for an amazing time and thank you to the staff who provided live entertainment after our ride while we enjoyed great bbq, he really needs to audition for the voice! Amazing talent that was appreciated more than I could express! Thank you again for an overall wonderful experience
Great views! Fun guide!
We had such a great time. We came for my birthday and everyone in our party loved the ride and the tour guides. After the ride we had 5 more join us for dinner where the food was delicious and the man on guitar was AMAZING!!!! If he happens to have anything recorded I know a few of us would love to purchase an album. We will definitely be back to do it again. Thank you!
Fun outing with our girls club, moms and daughters! Beautiful views of the city, great guides and easy ride!
My Girl Scout troop and I had a blast! We all agreed that we had the BEST VIEW and a delicious BBQ dinner. The live country music was a plus too.
I highly recommend the ride and BBQ. It was an excellent experience for the beginner and the experienced ridder. The staff was very personable and knowledgeable of riding and the trail. The views were magnificent and the horses a very friendly. If I could give this place six stars, I would.
very attentive and entertaining staff made experience very informative and enjoyable for us all (and they laughed at my "Dad" jokes which usually only illicit groans and eye-rolls from my kids) Thanks to Vivian and Kate
The tour guide was b Ryan helpful and made me feel comfortable and safe especially riding by the edge of the mountain
Everyone was so friendly and very upbeat. The staff was knowledgeable about the horses and had a true love of all the animals. I would recommend this outing for anyone wanting a fun and educational day! Thank you to all the staff. The dinner was delicious too!!!
I've lived in Los Angeles since 1985 AND used to actively ride... WHY have a I never done this? THIS IS A BUCKET LIST ITEM! Do the 2 Hour Ride and BBQ. You head out in late afternoon (4:00) and are assigned your horse based on your skill level (these horses know the drill, they do this every day) The guides are fun, engaging and really good about communicated how to work with your horse if your horse has figured you out to be a newbie (They love to seize any opportunity to eat the weeds) I'm an experienced rider and even though this is a trail ride - the slow pace allows you to take in the BREATHTAKING views of Los Angeles. Did you see Lalala Land? Whatever you may have thought of the movie - that one scene with the park bench overlooking a green valley - you pass RIGHT by that! You look down on the Geffen Theater, you overlook the Griffin Observatory - you pass by the Hollywood sign. You can see all the way to the ocean, down town LA and Burbank Airport. Afterwards - if you did the 2 Hour BBQ - you head back - and enjoy some REALLY good BBQ (they have it catered) with a live band/singer. It's a great experience that you should add to your bucket list - still kicking myself that I had never done it until now (and I went back again)
The guides were entertaining, friendly and so knowledgeable about the horses. The views were spectacular. The food at the BBQ was delicious. If I had to make some suggestions, it would be to let the riders choose the horse they want to ride and to have someone wipe down the helmets. I know it's cumbersome, my I didn't like putting a dusty helmet on my head. Other than that, fantastic! I would do it all over again.
This was our second time up on the ranch and it was just as amazing. We got stuck behind a pretty large group so we got a later start and didn't get as much time to sit and enjoy the band and the atmosphere but I understand that everybody has their own homes to get back to so there's not much that can be done about that. Overall it was another great experience and we'll definitely be back!
Excellent guides. Great scenery. Would definitely recommend
Nice staff (appears to be family owned and operated). Love the bbq dinner and live music after a 2 hour horseback ride! :-)
Easter weekend was packed! I believe the guide said they sold out, however even though there were two groups of 20 riders everyone did an excellent job! My fiancé and I had a blast, and the views were beautiful. 2 hours on a horse is plenty, and the food back at the ranch was pretty good. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a different type of experience in the heart of Hollywood.
Staff was amazing and so friendly.
The ranch is lovely and the views are stunning. You really do need to evaluate our comfort with heights and horses. I was pretty scared for most of the trip as those horses really do hug the edges but the guides are very good at keeping you calm and reassuring you that the horses know what they are doing. The views from this spot are unbeatable. I did the 2 hour sunset BBQ ride. 2 hours might be too long for some though I really did enjoy myself. The BBQ afterwards was fabulous. Everything tasted great. we did run behind quite a bit but I suppose with dozens of riders it takes a lot of time to get everyone set up on the right horse.
Felt really rushed at the top of the peak had no time to enjoy the view. Felt like the tour guide could be abit more structured in telling facts stories about thensurrounding areas. The toliets are really terrible even maybe providing soap or hand santiser outside the toilet and after the ride before eating dinner.
Whether you're a tourist or a local, this is a fantastic experience! The horses are great, the views are amazing, the guides are super friendly and helpful, and the BBQ dinner is delicious!
The ride was fun & informative, our guide Erica was such a pleasure, she made the experience very enjoyable. The bbq after was delicious!
I like to ride without a helmet. The use of my headphones would have been great too only because I feel more at ease. Trail was cool, so were the guides. My horse was great as well.
Our guide on the way up, Katie, was exceptional. She was very engaging with the group. On the way down, the guide was attentive, however not very talkative.
A group of six of us went to the Sunset Ranch for the "BBQ and Best View" package. We had such a great time!!! Everyone that works there is absolutely amazing--they are so friendly and informative about the property and horses! We had a two hour ride with catered food. I recommend this place to everyone! We will definitely go back!
I can't say enough good things about you guys. Our guide (Cassandra??) was very sweet, knowledgeable, and kept the conversation going while we rode. I didn't mind the facts she dropped and she made it fun. Everyone there seemed really professional, and I guess I wasn't expecting that from a little ranch like this in Hollywood of all places. Very impressed all around with the presentation, food, music while we ate, and overall smoothly run operation. The employees deserve so much credit for dealing with weird people on top of the moods of all of the horses from time to time. Thank you again. We'll be coming back in warmer weather to really enjoy the music and hang out a little bit!
Very attentive crew. Helpful and guide through tour was wonderful. Would do it again!
Everything about the experience was great except, You guys should have had some heaters and hot drinks for us during dinner... we were shivering cold. Out took away from the dinner portion..
The guides were really nice and they tried to provide as much commentary as possible to keep us entertained. I gave it 4 stars because you're not quite able to get a full shot of the hollywood sign. There are some parts during the ride that you are able to see the sign but, it's not full frontal. The trail is created that way so I'm not sure that's something the ranch could change. Overall the food was good and all the guides were very nice. If you have never done it and like riding horses definitely worth a ride.
This was an excellent experience. Guides were very friendly. The food was excellent!!! My wife did not like the port-a-potty -- she never does. Of course there is a normal restroom there that we used after the ride near the barbeque that was clean. Wish she was just directed there first. Great ride, great views, great food, and great guides.
This experience ranks among the best things our family has ever done together. We went on the sunset ride the first night of our vacation in LA. The guides were so welcoming, cheerful, and helpful. The horses were sweet. The sunset views were spectacular. The BBQ was delicious, and the musicians made our hearts sing. The ranch has beautiful chickens running free and many other farm animals. We have recommended this experience to all our friends who live in LA but have never tried it.
