Excellent Museum Experience at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures - This was a first time visit for my husband and I to the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. We spent about 3.5 hours there. There was a great variety of exhibits. We especially enjoyed the exhibits on JAWS, Cyberpunk, the Sarah Greenwood and Katie, the Pixar Toy Story 3D Zoetrope, and Inventing Worlds and Characters: Effects & Encounters. It was definitely worth the price. We would recommend it to others and return when new exhibits arrive.

Mommy & Daughter Get Away! - I realize that the museum has just opened so it’s going to take time and public input for improvement. However, this 1st visit was excellent. I kept an open mind before going without any expectations. My 17 yr old was even satisfied and giddy by the end of our self guided tour. I even met one of my fav tv characters from the series Bones, Tamara Taylor! She was so friendly and even more beautiful in person. It seemed as if she was taking a tour of the museum just as any non-celebrity would do! As long as they change exhibits every 3 yrs I’m good with it!

Fun afternoon - My brother and I were in town to visit the Petersen museum across the street and found ourselves with an extra day, so we toured the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. It was fun, entertaining, and interesting! We both learned a lot about the history of Hollywood and how the Studios developed. We took the "Jaws" tour - which was very interesting - and were able to watch the movie on our flights home! Fanny's cafe has delicious burgers too!

Phenomenal time and amazing experience - This is unlike any other museum you’ve ever experienced before. We went to spend a little time and before we knew it three hours had gone by. We learned a lot about movies and the history of movie making. This was an amazing experience and I recommend everyone go.

Oscar tour - A fun walk through memory lane. Well laid out and organized. A very pleasant experience. NB: Although not part of the tour, lunch in the Meyer Manx cafe in the Peterson Automotive museum across the street was great. Public parking in the area was easily obtainable and well priced

We spent 3 hours there... - We spent 3 hours there and enjoyed every minute. Only rated a four because the Oscars exhibit was not open and we really wanted to see it. The front desk guy was super helpful when we were late.

Return of movie magic - Two Besties Travel once again over to Los Angels to get reacquainted with movie magic. We went in with open expectations and were not disappointed. With multiple exhibits beautifully and creatively curated, we had plenty to assist us fall back in love with the creativity and expertise of set decorators, artists and directors. We cannot fail to give love and appreciation to sound, costume making, and prop magic. Parking: The building is easy to locate and a parking structure is right around the corner that services multiple museums in the area. For a couple of hours we paid about $23, which felt typical and reasonable for the area. The Museum: A clean well laid out floor plan, made it easy to locate and navigate each floor. There is a dine-in restaurant available, and a grab-n-go coffee shop, with plenty of seating around. Admission is definitely reasonable as well as the gift shop. Overall, the experience was so enjoyable we are planning a return visit for the Marilyn Monroe exhibit.

Going on a day that the museum might be busy? BE SURE TO BUY TICKETS IN ADVANCE!!!!! - If you are a movie lover, you most likely will love this museum. They have quite a few interesting exhibits, especially about the creation of Hollywood as the center of the movie industry, as well as about the history of the Oscars (past winners, etc.) They also have a large exhibit about the making of the movie Jaws, which is very interesting. However, if you are going to the musuem on a day that the museum is likely to be crowded. be sure to purchase your tickets in advance. We tried to go on Presidents Day. Since it was a holiday and it was raining heavily, the musuem was very crowded, and those who had not purchased tickets in advance had to wait in line a very long time. In our case, we waited more than two hours to get tickets, and then we gave up waiting. We then brought our tix online for a weekday, when it wasn't crowded at all, and we were taken care of very quickly, and I noticed that the line for tix for people who had not purchased tix in advanxce was very short. BOTTOM LINE: buy your tix in advance. If you prefer not to, then go on a day when the museum is not likely to be crowded. For example, a wekeday while school is in session.

A "Must See" for Film Lovers - There is so much to see, read and experience at the Academy Museum. We spent a few hours and could have spent much more time there. The Jaws 50th Anniversary Exhibit was fantastic. We learned so much more about the film from the tour guide and how Spielberg pulled off so many scenes. We also enjoyed the Barbie exhibit. However the Fashion exhibit could have featured more from iconic films. We went on a weekday afternoon so it wasn't crowded. We parked across the street at the Peterson Museum. The Academy's restaurant didn't have much that interested us so we left to get a bite to eat elsewhere.

The price was high and the experience was disappointing. A handful of movies and a bit of history. - Disappointing museum- disjointed yet so much potential. With 98 years of Oscar movies, glamour, emotions snd talent, this museum should be so much more.
