- Hue Imperial City (The Citadel) - After lunch, spend about 1.5 to 2 hours exploring this unique site of the Nguyen dynasty. It includes palaces for the imperial family, shrines, gardens, and villas for mandarins. Built in 1803 under Emperor Gia Long as a new capital, it primarily served ceremonial purposes during the French colonial era, until the monarchy ended in 1945.
