Lisbon day trip away from the Algarve - After 3rd visit to Algarve we decided to explore.
I had considered booking a train to Lisbon but decided on a tour as I had never been to the city and thought a tour would be safer and I would take more in. It actually turned out less with the tour than train tickets and taxis to the station.
We met at the dolphin roundabout at 6.50am and our coach was a luxury Mercedes with on board toilet, aircon and very soft comfy seats.
We were met by a very lovely host , Anna who spoke English and German like a local.
Added bonus we stopped off after 90 mins at one of the cleanest service stations that I have seen (done the same on the way back).
First stop after travelling over an amazing bridge (identical to Golden Gate Bridge) was the marina area. We had 80 mins to visit the monastery (you need to book your tickets before you travel) or the chapel beside it (free).
After we had a 60 min tour of the city, we stopped at a posh part with excellent shopping and cafes. We had over 3 hrs to explore and I felt very safe to walk about and just sit outside a cafe watching the world go by.
If like me you want to break up your beach days for something different it is worth booking
