Great guided tour of Jeronimos Monestary - Visited Jeronomios Monestary on 19 September 2025. Medium-sized group ~25 persons. Our tour guide was Federico P from Cooltours Lisbon. He was wonderful. Very engaging, thorough and has a passion for the historical site. He will definitely be a highlight of our trip to Portugal, and probably one of the best tour guides we have experienced. Our tour lasted approximately two hours. Meet at 9am, tour begins at 930am, see the inside of the Monastery and the church following the tour guide with audio assist (headphones provided). Some tips - queue is currently to the right of the main entrance. Bring your own headphones (with head jack) - the tour operator provides them onsite but they are one time use only (unneeded waste) and not the most comfortable. Beware there is no place to sit on this tour, as the monastery/church doesn’t allow seating on plentiful benches and pews. Also only bathroom stop was upstairs near the beginning of the tour.

Unforgettable visit to Jerónimos Monastery - Federico was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging throughout the entire experience. He made sure every question was answered thoroughly and brought a depth of insight that truly enriched the tour. The visit to Jerónimos Monastery was a standout! thanks to Federico, we gained historical context and fascinating details we wouldn’t have discovered on our own. Highly recommend this tour if you want to walk away with more than just pictures!

Communication - Updates needed - It was an ok tour, the guides were young and knowledgeable about the places we visited. However, we were told the tour started promptly at 9am, and to arrive a few minutes early (completely understandable). But, the monastery Jerónimos doesn’t even open until 9:30am, so we waited about 45min outside just waiting to get in, we got there at 8:45am. There were no guides with blue or yellow flags either as the email stated- just the guides and you had to ask a few times to find which group you belonged with to check in. Confusing and not accurate! Also, there was no communication about the Belem tower being under construction, so we didn’t even go there - the advertisement is not updated or correct. The title is “Best walking Tower of Belem” we didn’t even go into the Belem town to explore or the tower as noted above. The total time was about 2hrs and 30min, and the overall experience details said it would be about 4hrs! Again, not as advertised or expected.

Not recommended - An hour of queuing in the sun, with 36 degrees, despite the fact that we had already bought the ticket online. Impossible not to think about sheltering tourists under temporary shelters..... my heartbroken husband fortunately did not feel bad, he remained in queue with us despite having the right to priority access which however was not marked. After an hour in the sun I find myself with burnt shoulders despite 50+ protection. When you enter you are prevented from even sitting on the floor and you are so exhausted and physically tested that you do not enjoy the place at all. Bad experience
