• Church of Saint Anthony of Lisbon - Saint Anthony Church: Constructed on the birthplace of St. Anthony in 1195, this church honors the saint renowned as a matchmaker and the patron of lost items. He remains Lisbon’s most beloved saint, with his statue prominently displayed outside the church. Initially built in the 1400s, the current structure dates back to 1757, following reconstruction after the 1755 earthquake.
• Lisbon Cathedral - Lisbon Cathedral: Erected during the reign of D. Afonso Henriques after the conquest of Lisbon from the Moors, the construction of Lisbon Cathedral commenced in 1147, making it the oldest church in the present-day Portuguese capital.
• Castelo de S. Jorge - São Jorge Castle: São Jorge Castle is one of Lisbon’s most iconic landmarks. Its silhouette is striking both during the day and when illuminated at night. Situated atop São Jorge hill, the highest point in Lisbon, the area also includes the neighborhoods of Alfama and Castelo.
• Miradouro das Portas do Sol - Miradouro dos Portas do Sol: Provides the best view over the Historical District of Alfama. Starting at Largo Portas do Sol, perched on the district’s intricate streets, extended in floor tiles, long and narrow, visitors can find a small terrace on an esplanade, and another on the top right-hand side.
• National Pantheon - The National Pantheon: Known as the Church of Santa Engrácia, this grand Baroque building houses the tombs of the nation’s most esteemed figures. Explore the final resting place of Portugal’s most illustrious personalities.
• Alfama - Alfama: The steep streets of Alfama, one of Lisbon’s oldest districts, are lined with shops offering traditional crafts and cafes. The historic no. 28 tram, filled with passengers, winds through Alfama on its journey to the 11th-century São Jorge Castle. Views from the Miradouro da Graça terrace extend over the city to the River Tagus. In the evening, the soulful sounds of Fado music can be heard in some of the area’s long-standing restaurants.
• Miradouro da Senhora do Monte - The highest point in Lisbon, offering a view of around 80% of the city, where visitors can enjoy live music and watch the sunset in the evening.
