- Cahuita National Park - Situated in the Caribbean La Amistad Conservation Area of Costa Rica, Cahuita National Park is a terrestrial and marine park located on the southern Caribbean coast in Limón Province, adjacent to the town of Cahuita. This park is distinctive in Costa Rica for its collaborative management approach, where the community and government work together for sustainable community-level development. The involvement of park rangers and the local community is a highlight of this shared governance model. In this ecosystem, which combines Caribbean and forest environments, visitors can encounter raccoons, sloths, iguanas, and basilisks. Snakes such as the tinsel and tamagá, along with birds like the black hawk, are also present. Within the park, recreational activities such as hiking the trails, swimming, or sunbathing on the beaches are available.
- Tortuguero Canal - Tortuguero National Park is a protected wilderness area on Costa Rica’s northern Caribbean coast. Its beaches are renowned as nesting sites for sea turtles, including the endangered green turtles. The park’s freshwater creeks and lagoons, navigable by boat or canoe, are home to spectacled caimans and river turtles. The surrounding dense rainforest is teeming with wildlife, from monkeys to numerous bird species. The tour offers a serene boat ride along the canals to admire the area’s rich biodiversity.
