An essential museum of pre-Columbian art. - I have visited many museums around the world and I can assure you in my modest opinion that this is one of the most beautiful museums I have ever known. The building is atop a ceremonial mountain and is a restored palace of a nobleman and is currently a private foundation whose owner is named Larco. It is a colonial house absolutely surrounded by greenery. All in an extraordinary state of preservation with Bugambillas plants of every color imaginable in full bloom for having gone in the Peruvian summer. The interior has adequate explanations in all expected languages. The lighting is dramatic and the objects are organized from the oldest pre-Columbian objects that have been found in different regions and areas throughout Peru. It is a delicious collection that encompasses ceramics, jewelry, metal, funeral rites and a little textile as well. The visit is absolutely mandatory. I don't think you can leave Lima without having known this extraordinary museum. I want to recommend it very vividly.

Great musuem with INCREDIBLE artifacts - Great display of artifacts, really impressive pottery and some VERY incredible pieces of metal work by the Chimu culture. Larco was truly a pioneer and frontiersman of Peruvian coastal archeology, finding 7 cultures unknown previously. Learned a lot about the death cults and human sacrifice, pottery, textiles, skull trepidations, and warfare. One of the only museums in Peru and one of several in the whole world that puts their non exhibit pieces on display. The erotic gallery was extra spicy if you can handle it. The gardens outside are very incredible- free storage for luggage and large bags. Professionally done and ground breaking musuem- must do! and I also recommend huaca San Mateo if you are in the area.

Important Must See - Give yourself lots of time to read, learn and explore this important museum and don't skip the incredible warehouse, or Erotic Museum. Exceptional opportunity and a must see for anyone who wants to learn about Peru from BC to modern times. There was no lineup and only about 14-20 people total in the whole exhibits on a Thursday afternoon in early March.

Nice and informative - We had a slight issue with TripAdvisor not sending the code to present to the museum. But the staff helped with the issue and with time we were able to enter. They were very kind and understanding. I really appreciate that. Museum was very interesting. Lots of information and artifacts to view. I enjoyed the experience.

Definitely worth a visit with a guide for depth and understanding - A fascinating exhibition of ancient Peruvian artifacts pre Inka mostly. Take a guide to show you around to give a proper understanding of the enormous collection in all its glory.

Fun Larco museum - This was a beautiful museum. There were so many artifacts of the Incas. We also ate at the restaurant on site for dinner and it was excellent.

Expensive and unguided entrance - The entry is 50 suns in general, but the bad thing that I was given no brochure, only a sticker to put in a visible place, does not include guide or option of a group tour with a guide, so I did not know where to start the tour. It is not affordable for Peruvian visitors or backpackers and less without a guide (it is with extra payment). Everything is in excellent preservation and with information in each sample. Everything's clean. It was very interesting the room of the erotic ceramics that are on the first floor.
