The Old Town of Lijiang is a well-preserved ancient city of ethnic minorities with a rich culture. First built in the late Song Dynasty (960 - 1279), it boasts a history of over 800 years. The town’s architecture reflects a blend of multinational culture and the evolution of the Naxi ethnic minority, incorporating the finest elements of Han, Bai, and Tibetan architectural styles into a unique Naxi design.

• Mufu Palace - During peak season, there may be a wait for the cable car. If time permits, visit Mufu Palace. The Mu Family, rulers of the Naxi minority, governed Lijiang from the Yuan Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, spanning 470 years and 22 generations. The current Mufu Palace represents ancient central Chinese architectural style from the Ming Dynasty, while retaining features from the Tang and Song Dynasties. Inside, the details reflect the minority characteristics of the Bai and Naxi groups. Beyond its architectural significance, it serves as an exceptional plant museum with ancient trees and rare plants. The garden combines imperial and Suzhou styles.
