Lijiang. O/N Lijiang

Lijiang - The tour guide will meet the group in the hotel lobby at 09:00 am and provide a transfer to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, which is a 50-minute drive covering 25 km.

Yulong (Jade Dragon) Mountain - The visit to the Snow Mountain may start with a cable car ride to Spruce Meadow or a visit to White Water River, depending on the schedule of the Impression Lijiang Show, which varies daily between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm and lasts for 60 minutes. The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is easily accessible via a network of cable cars that transport visitors to various parts of the mountain. The 13 peaks, home to several glaciers, remain snow-covered throughout the year. The changing altitudes offer diverse landscapes, from serene meadows to snowy paths and glaciers. The choice to visit Spruce Meadow via cable car is due to its lower altitude (3300M) and fewer visitors compared to Glacier Park, along with its beautiful views.

Lijiang Impressions Show - Following this, the group will attend the Lijiang Impression show. This outdoor performance, featuring traditional songs and dances by local ethnic groups from the villages around Lijiang, is held at the base of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, just outside the main building, at scheduled times.

Blue Moon Valley - Afterward, a private car will take the group to White Water River (Blue Moon Valley). The Blue Moon Valley is a strikingly blue river winding through a lush valley of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. From a distance, it resembles a blue crescent moon at the mountain’s base, hence its beautiful name. However, the river’s color changes; if it rains, the white mud and limestone rubble at the riverbed mix with the water, turning it milky white. Thus, the local Naxi people call it White Water River (Baishui River).

Baisha Ancient Town - After lunch outside the Yulong Snow Mountain park, the group will head to Baisha village. Here, they can explore the Dongba pictograms, the mural paintings in Dabaoji Palace, and the ‘ten thousand camellia blossoms’ tree, among other attractions. Baisha means ‘white sands’ and was the first settlement of the Naxi people after migrating south from the Tibetan plateau. It was once the political, commercial, and cultural center of the powerful, yet mysterious, Naxi Kingdom. The region became part of the Yuan Empire in the late thirteenth century. The Mu family, which governed Lijiang from the late fourteenth to the early eighteenth century, originated in Baisha. The area also played a significant role in the strategic commercial network known as the Tea Horse Road.

Lijiang. O/N Lijiang

Lijiang - The tour guide will meet the group in the hotel lobby at 09:00 am and provide a transfer to Tiger Leaping Gorge, which is a 120-minute drive covering 80 km.

Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiao Xia) - After purchasing the entrance ticket, the driver will take the group to the gorge. The hiking tour will begin at the upper part of the Tiger Leaping Gorge. A 15-20 minute walk along the plank road leads to the viewing platform on the valley floor. The strong currents of the Jinsha River roar through the narrow valley, with waves crashing against the rocks. Cameras should be ready to capture this spectacular view. At the narrowest point, a giant rock, 13 meters (43 feet) high, sits in the middle of the river, splitting the torrents into two branches. The surging waves crash against the rock with a tremendous roar. A special viewing platform allows visitors to fully appreciate this impressive scenery and take pictures. The group will spend 1.5-2 hours enjoying the gorge’s breathtaking scenery before returning to the parking lot with the guide.

Black Dragon Pond Park - After lunch, a private car will take the group back to the city center to visit Black Dragon Pond Park. Here, they can enjoy a panoramic view of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. This park is a landmark of Lijiang, and the pool is listed in the Collections of Famous Pools of China due to its exquisite beauty. The surroundings are lush with grass and shaded by swaying willow trees. The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is reflected in its waters. At the far side of the pool, renovated buildings used for art exhibitions, such as the Moon-Embracing Pavilion with its white marble bridge across the water, and the Five-Phoenix Temple built during the Ming Dynasty, can be found.

Shuhe Ancient Town - Next, the group will visit Shuhe old town for a leisurely walk in Shuhe Ancient Town. Shuhe, or ‘Shaowu’ in the Naxi language, means the village at the foot of the high mountain. In the past, a high mountain named Jubao stood behind the village, giving it its name. Shuhe Ancient Town is located 4 km northwest of Lijiang Ancient Town. Its central part covers about 5 square kilometers with a population of around 3,000. In 1997, Shuhe was recognized as an important part of Lijiang Ancient Town, which was already a World Cultural Heritage site named by UNESCO.

Lijiang–Guilin. O/N Guilin.

Lijiang Airport - Today, there are no activities planned, just a flight to Guilin in economy class. A driver will take the group to Lijiang airport, with no tour guide. The flight MF8636, scheduled from 13:50 to 15:35, takes approximately 2 hours.

Guangxi Airport Management Group Guilin Liangjiang International Airport Company - Upon arrival in Guilin, a local driver will pick up the group on time and transfer them to their Guilin hotel (driver only, no guide).

Guilin. O/N Guilin.

Guilin - The guide will pick up the group in the hotel lobby at around 09:30 am. They will be escorted to the renowned Reed Flute Cave, a 30-minute ride away.

Reed Flute Cave (Ludi Yan) - Upon arrival at the cave, the group will enter the underground karst cave and marvel at the amazing formations of stalagmites and stalactites. The Reed Flute Cave is a famous karst cave with numerous stalagmites and stalactites shaped like bamboo shoots, pillars, curtains, and flowers, creating a splendid underground palace. Inside the cave, visitors can discover more astonishing sights, such as stone lions, miniature forests, pagodas, and crystal chambers. Each has a romantic or interesting story associated with it. The guide’s vivid interpretation, along with the lighting, adds mystery to the scene. The cave tour lasts about 40 minutes.

Dragon’s Backbone Rice Terraces - After a two-hour drive, the group will reach the entrance for the Longji Terraces, where they will purchase Longji entrance tickets for the rice terraces in Ping’an Village. This village has the most famous and beautiful rice terraces in Longji and requires about a 30-minute drive from the entrance ticket office. The Dragon’s Backbone Rice Terraces is a magnificent agricultural spectacle with a history of over 650 years. The most striking part of the terrace cluster is the Ping’an Village Rice Terrace, the first one discovered by tourists and photographers. Numerous narrow rice fields dug along the hill slopes form terraces connected by winding flagstone trails. Viewing platforms allow visitors to see the entire terrace fields built tier upon tier. While there, visitors can also experience the traditional way of life of the minority Zhuang people. It is quite interesting to help them in the fields, try on their bright-colored ethnic costumes, and visit their unique stilted houses.

Ping’an Village - Upon arrival, the group will take a moderate trek along steps to Ping’an Zhuang Village. The walk up takes about 40 minutes. The guide will take the group on a stroll around the village, where they can glimpse the local Zhuang people’s unique wooden stilted houses and have lunch in the village. After a short lunch break, the terrace exploration continues to the No.2 Viewing Platform (Seven Star with the Moon), a 15-minute walk, which is a fantastic spot for a bird’s-eye view of the Longji Terraces below. There will be ample time to take pictures and enjoy the fresh air at the platform. Then, the group will head to No.1 Viewing Platform (Nine Dragons and Five Tigers), a 30-minute walk along a flat path.

Guilin - Afterwards, a private car will take the group to their Guilin hotel around 6:00 pm, and they will have free time.

Guilin–Yangshuo. O/N Yangshuo.

Guilin - In the morning, the guide and driver will pick up the group from the hotel at around 07:45 am and escort them to the Zhujiang pier, where they will start the Guilin Li River cruise to Yangshuo (4-star boat with buffet lunch).

Li River - Boarding is scheduled for 9:20 am, and the entire journey takes about 4 hours. With the guide’s company and interpretation, the group can immerse themselves in the stunning karst landscape of rolling hills, verdant forests, odd caves, and tranquil villages along the Li River. A buffet Chinese lunch will be served on board before reaching Yangshuo at 2:00 pm.

Xianggong Mountain - After disembarkation, the group will be driven to see Yangshuo Xianggong Hill. They will climb for 15 minutes along a moderately sloped staircase to reach the top of Xianggong Hill. Please inform the guide in advance if a walking stick is needed. Situated between the famous Yellow Cloth Shoal and the Mural Hill, Xianggong Hill is one of the best viewing platforms in Guilin to take in the beauty of the Li River. The supreme view of the meandering Li River making a 180-degree bend attracts countless visitors and photographers annually.

Yangshuo County - At the end, the guide will escort the group to their Yangshuo hotel, and they will have free time. There is an option for a night show in Yangshuo, ‘Impression Sanjie Liu,’ performed above and on the Li River against verdant hills. The dreamlike stage effect and original singing and dancing of national minorities have earned the performance a great reputation among visitors. The show begins at 8:00 pm and lasts for 70 minutes; ticket prices range from CNY 268 to CNY 368, depending on the seats. If interested, the guide will reserve tickets and escort the group to the site after dinner.

Yangshuo. The tour ends

Yangshuo County - In the morning, the guide and driver will pick up the group from the hotel at around 09:00 am and escort them to the Yulong River, where they will start the Yangshuo Yulong bamboo boat tour.

Yulong River - Taking a bamboo raft ride on the Yulong River (or Dragon River), a tributary of the Li River, is a very relaxing way to enjoy the highly scenic area south of Yangshuo. Here, visitors can enjoy the stunning scenery and views of country life on a non-motorized raft in the traditional way, with a gondolier steering over the breakwaters past many small mud-brick villages and farmlands. Once on the bamboo raft, sitting and enjoying the peaceful countryside and limestone mountains, the beauty of this experience unfolds. Even if the area has been cycled with a few hidden stretches approaching the river, the view from the river is very different. The boat ride lasts for 50 minutes, one way.

Fuli Ancient Town - Next, the group will travel by car to Yangshuo Fuli Town, a 20-minute journey. In this town, they will experience the life of local farmers. First, the guide will escort them to a local market, then head to the old streets to see the fans, paintings, and water buffalo near the river (end of the street).

Xingping Town - Once a sleepy riverside village, Xingping has grown into Xingping Town, with an old center that can be easily explored in about an hour. Xingping has a long history, with many buildings dating back to the Qing and Ming dynasties. On local market days, the town comes alive and can get quite busy with locals from surrounding villages buying and selling their produce. Restaurants and coffee shops offer the local specialty, beer fish, and local handicrafts, ranging from inexpensive handmade jewelry. Additionally, the scenery around Xingping is magnificent, and visitors can see the landscape immortalized on the national 20 RMB note.

Guangxi Airport Management Group Guilin Liangjiang International Airport Company - After lunch in Xingping, the group will be transferred to Guilin airport/train station or back to the Yangshuo hotel, marking the end of the 6-day Lijiang–Guilin tour.
