Lecce - Dive into a genuine culinary journey in Lecce, the baroque heart of Apulia. Blend simple ingredients with enthusiasm to create Orecchiette and Maccheroni al Ferretto (using the traditional pasta tool). Guided by a local chef, you’ll also prepare two delightful sauces: a classic fresh tomato sauce and a chickpea and vegetable topping. Afterward, savor your creations during a friendly dinner, complete with homemade bread, a traditional dessert, and homemade limoncello. Our favorite activity in... - Our favorite activity in Italy was a cooking class in Lecce, hosted by a lovely and kind couple in their beautiful home. Fabio & Lisa welcomed us warmly into their home and taught us how to make pasta from scratch and paired the dishes we made with wine from the region.
What we didn't know was that we would be making a pasta known as maritati—a special type of pasta that combines orecchiette and maccheroncini. The name "maritati" translates to "married," symbolizing the union of these two pasta shapes. This pasta is traditionally served at weddings in Puglia as a wish for prosperity for the couple. Fabio & Lisa did not know we were set to elope in a mere two weeks, but when they told us the history of maritati we shared our news with them & in turn they told us the story of how they met nearly 50 years ago & their secret to a long and happy marriage.
We stayed sitting around the table on their patio under their pergola drinking wine, eating panna cotta, and chatting with them about their lives in Puglia and ours in New England well after the pasta had been eaten. The night ended with hugs and a promise to keep in touch.
Fabio & Lisa encapsulated Puglia for us. We will have the fond memories of their cooking class & their home for the rest of our lives.

Amazing cooking class experience with Fabio and Lisa! - We had an absolutely amazing experience! My sister, Francesca, and I took a pasta-making class with Fabio and Lisa and it was truly the highlight of our trip. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was perfect, and every part of the night felt so special! Fabio and Lisa were the best hosts we could’ve asked for. They were so warm, friendly, fun, and welcoming. They made the experience unforgettable and left us smiling the whole time. We absolutely loved it! 10/10 would recommend, and we’re already talking about coming back!

A true delight for cooking class enthusiasts. - Meeting Lisa and Fabio in Lecce is a true delight for cooking class enthusiasts. The hosts were exceptionally kind and welcoming, making you feel at home from the very first moment. They taught us the art of fresh pasta with extreme patience and meticulous attention to detail, even remembering the ancient stories behind it all. We then cooked the pasta with two different sauces, which we found flavorful and perfectly prepared, reflecting the freshness and quality of the local ingredients. And what about the wine Fabio recommended? It was delicious. A must for anyone in the area!

An unforgettable pasta-making experience in Lecce - I had a wonderful time at this cooking class in Lecce! Lisa was incredibly patient and kind. She taught us how to make fresh pasta using just water and flour – simple ingredients, but the result was amazing.
The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. It felt like cooking at a friend’s home. We enjoyed delicious food and tasted excellent wine from a local winery.
This experience was truly unforgettable. I learned a lot, ate very well, and felt completely at ease the whole time. Highly recommended!

Make pasta & drink wine in Lecce. Travel included! - A unique, authentic and unforgettable experience in Lecce - the heart of Puglia. Lisa and Fabio welcome you into their home with a wonderful and generous spread of local wine, before patiently teaching you the traditional techniques to make orecchiette and maccheroncini al ferretto. Transport from a convenient location in the Lecce Old Town is included - fun and good food is guaranteed!

Oh what a night!! - A very welcoming couple, Fabio and Lisa showed us a wonderful evening filled with delicious appetizers, great wines and a hands on cooking experience!!! We had so much fun eating and laughing! Go hungry!! They have the cutest puppy, Joy!! Don’t miss him!

Long live the little pieces to the sauce! - We were curious! I have always heard so much about Salento specialties and, I must say, we had tested firsthand in a couple of restaurants towards Milan. Space! Stuff you never get off the table. So we decided to do this experience firsthand with Lisa and Fabio. They are cute, patient and GOOD!
Nice evening pleasant and interesting, the Salento cuisine is tasty and simple. In short, a big hit. The only drawback: I tried to do in my house what we had done together in their kitchen, but the result was not the same. So we decided to return to them soon, after Easter, to improve and enjoy the company and atmosphere.

A charming and experiential pasta workshop in Lecce! - That was an experience I will surely remember for generations!
The day I arrived in beautiful Lecce was rainy. In the afternoon, I had just met Lisa and Fabio, who had taken us to their place for the pasta workshop.
The place there was so pleasant! throughout the workshop, we had useful and enjoyable conversations with Lisa and Fabio, who guided us perfectly about the traditions and techniques of making the Orecchiette and Maccheroncini pastas.
Furthermore, we had a break to eat delicious Pugliese delicacies and drink the great wines of this region. Then, continuing to make pasta till the magnificent dinner at the end was accompanied with a lot of joy, humor, and vibrant atmosphere!
Overall, that was a great experience that undoubtedly I am waiting to do again! Lisa and Fabio are so kind, full of compassion, and very creative! So that was a huge honor to learn from them and to share this attractive experience with them and with the other friendly participants in this workshop.
So recommended for all!!

Warm, friendly and fabulous! - We had an absolutely fabulous evening, thanks to Fabio and Lisa! Starting with a timely pick-up at a convenient location, followed by clear and helpful pasta-making instructions, delicious anti-pasti selections, great wines, wonderful conversations, and an amazing dinner. Not to be missed!

Exceptional Cooking Class! - What a fabulous experience! Our hosts were warm and personable. They made us feel like we were all old friends together for the evening. The food, from the appetizers to the pasta and sauces we made and the wine were all superb! They accommodated our schedule (had a train to catch) but that didn't affect what a wonderful time we had. If you are in Lecce and have the opportunity, make sure you take this class!
