- Temples of Baalbek - Discover the magnificent Roman temples of Baalbek-Heliopolis, dedicated to Jupiter, Bacchus, and Venus. These temples represent the largest and best-preserved Roman architecture remaining today. The Temple of Jupiter is not only the largest Roman temple globally, but its granite and limestone pillars are among the largest ever discovered by archaeologists. The six Corinthian columns that remain from the original 54, each standing 20 meters tall and 2.5 meters in diameter, are considered the largest in the world.
