Awesome SunRise Hike - Kevin provided much welcomed information about the fauna, flora and history of the mountain. He is knowledgeable in mountaineering and assists with difficult patches both up and down the mountain. A much needed snack was provided at the summit. You go at your own pace but Kevin ensures that no one's cools down too much ,to keep the muscles warm whilst moving. Get yourself good shoes with ankle support and grip! Pack light but essentials-water/electrolytes/snacks and have a good meal before hand for fuel. It's extremely rewarding and spiritual climbing up the mountain! Worth the energy and effort required to enjoy the serene views.

Hike Le Morne Brabant with Kevin! It's stunning! - Kevin was great! He is extremely knowledgeable on this hike and the conditions. According to him, he's done the hike 900 times! I signed up when a tour company cancelled on me two hours before pick up because I was the only one signed up. I panicked and looked for more options. I found Kevin. He reached out and said due to rain in the forecast they weren't planning on hiking that afternoon. My only other option was the sunrise hike the next morning. He said he'd check the weather and get back to me. He ran the hike the next morning with myself and one other guest and it was great! The hike was slippery and he was able to take us on alternative routes to avoid any unsafe conditions. He told us about the history of the hike and all around is very knowledgeable. He also is a great Instagram photographer! I highly recommend. Also key to note that Kevin can coordinate transportation for you! If I had known that I likely would have booked him originally as I only booked the original tour because they included transfer and I was not renting a car. Also the hike did not disappoint! There's a lot of fun scrambling and the views at the top are unmatched!

Great experience! - I had a beautiful experience on this tour. It was a bit hard getting out of bed in the middle of the night but totally worth it. The hike starts of in the dark but headlights are provided by the guide. It’s really quiet at this hour and we spotted some wildlife on the way up. After you see the sunrise on the mountain and get to the cross you’ll have a beautiful view of the island. I would recommend climbing at this hour, to avoid the crowds and heat of the afternoon sun. Very peaceful, absolutely loved it!!

Eric was fantastic. Highly recommend - If you want to get to the top of Le Morne Brabant you should do it with a guide and I can’t recommend Horazis and our guide Eric enough. Yes it was an incredibly early start but I wouldn’t have it any other way. We were given head lamps at the very beginning to help us find our way. Seeing the sunrise on the mountain was magical and scaling the steepest parts, which was more like bouldering, without the sun blazing down on us was a godsend. It is these difficult sections where the guide really came in handy. On our way down at 7/8am, when the sun was already blistering, we passed people starting to climb without a guide (some with hiking poles - those will be more of a hindrance than a help on the steep rocks) and I wonder how many of them actually made it all the way up; as without a guide knowing the way, giving us the encouragement and the tips, I reckon I would have given up. Eric was so knowledgeable on the history and the flora of the mountain and Mauritius as a whole. It was a joy to learn about the country and this amazing UNESCO heritage site as we climbed.

Must do Tour with the best guides! - Hiking Le Morne is definitely a must whilst being in Mauritius! I‘d highly recommend to not do it alone but with a guide like Kevin & Ravi for our group because of the very challenging ‚climbing‘ part of the hike. They are very experienced and will guide you through every step you have to take to reach the top where you will be rewarded with the most amazing views.

The best hike with the best guide - It was an unforgettable hike up Le Morne with expert guidance! Highly recommend going with a guide - Ravi was ours, and he led us safely through breathtaking views and hidden trails. He was super friendly and attentive, and also shared with us lots of knowledge (history of the place, geography, fauna curiosities). Kevin was the one reaching out to us on WhatsApp with all the information and he was amazing and super helpful!

Gigantic experience not without danger. - I chose this climb the night before. It was important to me not to be exposed to the greatest heat of the day. That was good and good. I'm 65 years old and I don't play sports anymore. My condition is not bad. But still, if I had precise information about the difficulty, I probably would not have booked the climb. There are sections that are really very steep, there are no aids, to which you can hold on. You then have to constantly look for support with your hands on the rocks and they are sometimes very sharp-edged. There's not a single kick. All nature and rubble. In my opinion, the guide took the tour much too fast. It wasn't the last one he kept an eye on either. The breaks were extremely short, the last participants had just arrived, when they had to move on again. When asked, the answer was that we did not have time. Somehow everyone made it upstairs. The view up there was worth the effort. And somehow we had to go back down. At the very steep points we had to turn/rob face up, as in yoga the bridge, down. Two participants also slipped on rubble and suffered severe abrasions. In the end, everyone was happy. However, the guide often ridiculed me in front of the group because I always sat down during breaks. He didn't deserve to know that my right underpinning after an elongated artery occlusion during corona was near amputation. I don't remember how many times I had to hear, how many times he's been upstairs and how much he chills in life. Anyway, the view up there is gigantic, I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone without a guide. But proper hiking boots that go over the ankles with a professional profile and gloves are essential in my view. And they have to assess their skills themselves, the guide takes everyone with him. Incidentally, I agree with Agne K's review of May 4, 2024. A guide is someone who takes care of the weakest member of the group. And doesn't want to earn his stars through self-expression. I did the tour on October 10, 2024
