2 Datura Ave - Embark on a Snorkel Tour of the “Shipwreck Snorkel Trail” dedicated to the renowned underwater explorer Jean-Michel Cousteau. Second only to the Great Barrier Reef, this hidden gem is sure to delight any adventurer as one of our expert guides leads you through this trail, inaugurated by Jean-Michel Cousteau in May 2002. The trail features two sets of concrete cannons, a large anchor, and a ballast pile, all replicating a shipwreck typical of these waters from years past. Initiated in 1998, the trail took four years to complete. The shallow reef trail ranges from 8 to 16 feet deep and is one of three reef systems that host a diverse array of tropical marine life, including:
-
Large Sea Turtles
-
Blue Tang
-
Parrotfish
-
French Angels
-
Spotted Scorpionfish
-
Caribbean Spiny Lobster

Our original tour was established over a decade ago to complement the first Biorock Project in the USA, which facilitated coral growth. Although the project was eventually discontinued, our dedicated guides have continued to showcase the rich history and stunning beauty of this remarkable reef system, while also supporting a new coral project.
